Thinking Root or No Root???

I got my replacement phone yesterday, and now I am thinking about rooting. I am not sure if I should or not, so somebody please tell me what the advantage would be. I have looked over a few forums up here about rooting and the language is a little foreign to me. Somebody explain it to me in english:confused::confused:

I would suggest looking through this sub-forum to help make your decision:

All Things Root (Eris) - Android Forums

One reason i did it. Overclocking. That means you can make your phones processor work a little harder and make it run faster. My Eris is very quick now. Root is def the way to go.

You have no idea how many people on this board alone would kill to be in the position you're in. You have the ability to root, a lot of those with the leak do not. Do it for
-customization (you'll get bored of stock eventually)
-Overclocking, we have an older, slower, laggier processor...screw 528mhz when you can be at 768! It makes everything faster.
-Apps2sd, self explanitory
-root apps, backing up, removing stock bloatware crap t hat you have never even clicked on...the list keeps going. There is NO downside. Make a nandroid backup, takes 5 minutes. "oh shit this rom really screwed everything up" boot to recovery, recover, back to where you were before when it worked.

At least with root you can un-root...you can't un-leak (yet, if ever)
