This might sound crazy but I rooted my Hero about a week ago. Well me and my family has been so busy with the holidays that we forgot to pay our phone bill so they cut it off today (we have the money and plan on paying it tomorrow), but my internet still works!!! I was wondering if rooting allows you to use their internet with out having their cellular service. I am not connected to any WiFi signal so it has to be their signal. BTW, I'm with Cellular South. Thanks in advance!!!
Crazy me was not thinking about it and I rebooted my phone last night, when it came back on I had no internet. 
I knew we were going to pay the bill the next day so I was not too worried about it. Then all of a sudden my phone rung. I was like OMG how am I getting a phone call with no service?!?! It was my husband, I asked him how was he calling me and I told him our phones are cut off. He said that he did not know but it obviously was working. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how this was happening. I told him that they turned off my cellular service but not my data, so maybe they turned mine off and forgot his but then he said if that were true and my service was off how did I receive the call. Once again I was dumbfounded and confused. Then he started laughing and told me that he stopped by Cellular South on his way home from work and paid the bill!!!! LOL! He ain't right!!!.....Just thought I would share with my friends here!!!! BTW I will get him back!!! ;P
