Root This Noob Custom ROM'd his Optimus V!

I held my breath, and followed the instructions here: Install from Stock Optimus - ROMRepo

and got a nicely customized Optimus V for my efforts!

I've only been using the phone for a day, so I haven't figured out all the cool stuff it can do...but it looks nice and seems a little peppier, so I'm happy.

One feature I've discovered that I really like is the one that lets you move almost ANY app to the sdcard--I've got mega amounts of space left in the phone's memory ("120MB used 260MB Free")

I'm with you brother! I just got Cyanogen on my Optimus V last night and it is awesome. I am completely new to android and flashing roms but somehow I did it. It took me a few tries, and I realize now that at one point I unknowingly tried flashing a recovery file as the rom. Congrats to you!

I echo Jerry. The Optimus V is an okay phone to begin with. But once rooted and running a custom ROM, it can compete with many of the upper-level phones (in terms of speed and smoothness).
