This Phone Does...Everything

Because of the Mopho, I was able to get my work emails and also be able to help squash, last night, a potentially killed negotiation that I worked on.

Love the Mopho!

The one thing I want my MoPho to do is video calling via Gtalk or Skype. I'm 99% sure we'll see official Gtalk support by the end of the year. Skype works on Tegra 2 devices (nvidia showed it off back in Jan) but Skype hasn't put out a Tegra 2-enabled version yet (boo).

So far, I'm very impressed with my MoPho. It feels great in the hand. It's thin. Remember I'm coming from the Epic. I actually like the Moto-non-blur. I've been impressed at the many ways I can make a call, end a call, text, email, take photos, play games, customize the look and feel, watch videos, etc. I'm waiting for headphones, a bluetooth headset, and a car charger, all Moto brand. I'm very happy with my purchase. This phone is wickedly fast. It has none of the lag or crash issues that the Epic did. It's been out just about a month and it already had an update to actually fix an issue which actually fixed the issue! I'm thinking that the MoPho is a keeper.

Let me just say this, it is a great phone, and I recently got suped by a sprint employee, was on my 30th day, was evaluating my options, looked again at the E3d, and he says to me the photon is faster, no way! Let me say this, on my photon for whatever reason, whenever I go to gmail, clicking on emails, it lags sometimes for 2-3 seconds, where my evo 3d was instant, no lag, and this sprint ahole had the nerve to tell me the photon was better for gaming and that the evo 3d had framerate issues, what an idiot, he caught me off guard, I should know sprint employees know nothing about the phones they sell, at least support your phones, not even a screen protector for the photon in the sprint store, rant over...

That's interesting. I just tried to make my MoPho lag when hitting gmail. It was instant. No lag. I tap on emails, again, no lag. Hmmm, is something running in the background on yours?

I'll never buy accessories in a Sprint Store again. Even with my Premium Gold discount I can get all of them cheaper elsewhere even if I have to pay for shipping. I've found plenty of MoPho accessories out there. In fact I have so many choices that I have a hard time choosing.

The bottom line is I have 30 days to return or exchange my phone, thats my right as a consumer, and my point is this guy clearly did not want to do any sort of return or exchange with me, so he says the photon is better. I agree the photon is a much better phone then the evo 3d, but overall I prefer the evo 3d's sense, even though I have lancherpro installed, which is good, but sense is easier and more intuitive, both great phones, again, when I had the evo 3d my reception was awful, and I waited over 3 and a half hours at sprint, when initially I wanted to exchange it, but waited so damn long, never wanted to go through that again, so I decided to return it. Both phones have that strengths and weaknesses.

The only weakness I will give to the photon is the pic camera. Pics come out better on the evo 3d than the photon does. That's it. Photon as an overall device is better than the 3d imo.

Wow! I've had this thing off of the charger for almost 15 hours. I've played some games. Made a few calls and texts. I've used the internet and some news apps. My Epic never made it past 10 hours and that was a record when it was mostly sleeping. The MoPho rocks! Yes the camera could be better. The camera was better on my Epic. Many of my pics on the MoPho turn out grainy. But this is an amazing phone!

Hello.
Honestly I have to say that I do not have any of the issues reported by many here. The phone is simply outstanding. I came from an EVO 4G which treated me very well and I thought the EVO 3D would be the next phone for me but it simply did not pull me. Not that it is not a great phone as well. The 3D stuff really never pulled me. I did have the dead call issue and MR5 fixed that. I wish battery life was a little better but this thing does a great job at managing the battery. And I do tend to run a lot on this phone. I had the 3500Mamp battery on the EVO 4G and I really did not want that huge battery sticking out the back again so I will try to manage it. The pentile display thing is non issue for me. I considered taking it back for the Samsung GSII but the Sammy scares me with the lack of updates and support as many have discussed. But the Epic Touch does look nice..

The Motoblur vs Sense thing is irrelevant to me. I immediately loaded Go Launcher EX, a new car dock, GO SMS Pro, Opera browser and other related software that allows me to make the phone look and work the way I want. Afterall that is the power of Android.

I thought for a second about waiting for the Iphone 5 but the complete lack of customization and control keeps me away. I have a Macbook Pro and IMac so I do like Apple products. However, with Android I love to be able to download my own browser, own email client, own SMS product, own etc, etc, change my own battery, etc. and not be limited to the ecosystem Apple deems appropriate for me. Sorry...No chance. Although the Iphone is a great piece of engineering.

Overall, very pleased with the Photon.

Thanks
Mike

PowerAMP is BANGING. I bought it today. Love it. Thanks Bro:D There is also a Free App called Equalizer that I use with PowerAMP (I have it set to HipHop, Have it on my Xoom as well) and I have to turn down the volume. I have a pair of Shure Headphones built for Bass and they are getting a workout, BIGTIME. Good looking out;) Guess I DON'T have to carry my 32 iPod Touch anymore. I also have an extra battery (the Photon OEM Battery just in case). I also have the Car Dock. Loving this phone.

Came from an OG EVO. My wife's Photon will be here tomorrow via UPS. As soon as she saw mine, she had to have it. She has the EVO SHift 4G (will give to our daughter). The Photon KILLS the EVO in SPeed and the 3G is Great.

you dont just use the EQ in power amp????

Like floorguy said, the absolute BEST part of PowerAmp is the Equalizer built into the app! It's awesome. You think you liked PowerAmp before, dump the extra app that you purchased and just use the EQ that's built into the PowerAmp app. This was crucial for my use of music in my car (when I had the EVO). With the MoPho car dock, I don't have the same issues I had with the HTC EVO car dock, which makes it even better because controlling the sound is fantastic when trying to find the perfect compliment when I have both the Nav going AND music.

Sigh......I want my old car stereo system back....(mind you i am 37 now...and this was uhhhh 17 years ago)

it was bangin......and i coulda got rid of the EQs I had in the car:D:D:D:D

Looks like i might have to have another small mid life crisis, and install me a stereo in my work truck.....

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
