Those with 1 Year Contracts: Upgrade plans?

I'm sure I'm not the only one that signed up for a 1 year contract with the Incredible when it launched. Our upgrade date is late February. What are your upgrade plans? If you are not going to upgrade right away, what do you plan on waiting for?

I am not in that situation, but if I were I'd probably be taking a long hard look at the Bionic.

The Thunderbolt looks nice, and I'm sure will be a great phone. BUT, I'm more than a little dissapointed that its rocking the same 1 GHz Snapdraggon our Incredibles are. I would have figured that HTC would have gone dual core on this one.

It's not the same Snapdragon.

I am buying my brother upgrade for $20 and deciding between the Thunderbolt and the Bionic... I don't think I could go outside HTC but the bionic does look nice and if it's unlocked..

Correct. The TBolt uses a 45nm die vs. 65nm on the incredible. The upshot is that the proc will be FAR more battery friendly, while also improving speed. It's probably not going to be a massive change for the end user, but it will definitely be an upgrade.

i did get a one year contract sadly i am not due till may i believe? but one of my other lines has an upgrade, i might wait till mine is up anyway just to see what kind of dual core phone htc puts out, that is if they plan on making one this year. Hopefully i can hold out, otherwise i am going to the thunderbolt, hopefully by the time i get it, it will be rooted, or have gingerbread.

Really don't see anything compelling enough for me to upgrade. The Inc does everything I need. There are some new features that I would like to have (near field comm., fingerprint reader, dual core, FF camera), but until they are combined into one phone I'll stick with the Inc.

The Inc has it's features. but the build quality isn't as high as I had hoped. The HTC Eris was rock solid, and I'm hoping the Thunderbolt has those same features.

I'm already eligible (used another line's upgrade to get the Dinc). I'm waiting for either me to drop and break my Dinc, or for a phone that's way better to be released.

My 1 year contract is up in Feb and I'm on a rooted Eris right now. Contemplating switching to Inc, but also contemplating holding out to see if HTC comes out with anything else Inc sized over the summer or something. I don't want the hugeness of the Bolt. I like my small phone that fits in my pocket. The only reason I'm holding out is for the hope that there will be an upgraded Inc. Anyone hear any rumors of this?

Same here! None of the 4.3" monsters do it for me as I like a smaller phone. The iPhone 4 disappointed me also. I will wait and see what comes out this summer :)

The Thunderbolt is the next Incredible.... the Incredibles number is ADR6300
and the Thunderbolt is ADR6400

I was surprised with the Incredible being bigger than the Eris, and the Eris I had an otterbox. you'll get used to it, plus the phone looks good enough to not need a case, so I think that'll just take a little time to get used to.

Thanks for the update. Still, I'm dissapointed that they're going single core on this with Moto coming to the board with the Bionic running a Tegra 2.

I agree with this completely (except the $20 part :D). My wife used my upgrade a couple of months ago and hers is this week. I'm perfectly fine with my rooted DInc but I'll give the devs and users a couple of weeks after the TB's and Bionics release to tell me what is better.

Haven't seen anything compelling enough to make me want to upgrade. I put a Seidio case on it the day I got it with the 1800 battery & never looked back. This phone does everything I need & more . Maybe I will root it this year. :-)

Given that the vast majority of apps aren't optimized for dual core, I wouldn't be especially concerned about it at this stage of development. Perhaps in 2012 or later, but for now it's not a big deal.

Does anyone know if its possible for one phone (on a family plan) to get a one year contract... and the other phones to stay on a 2 year?

Bring on the large screen phones I can't wait!!!!!!!

My ideal phone would be 5 to 7"

Next time your at Best Buy, pick up an iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab, and try putting it to your head. Can you really see yourself using that to make a phone call?
