Thoughts on Panasonic's Lumix CM1?

The Lumix CM1 is coming to US. For those of you who missed it, it's basically a point and shoot camera first and an Android after. 20 MP 1" MOS with Leica 28mm f/2.8 - f/11 lens. Like, that thing sounds impressive. Anyone else excited about this thing?

Kinda. :)

I like the idea that it's a camera first, then a smartphone. I'm not so enamoured with the bulge on the back for the lens. But then I suppose that's what's needed to make it a decent camera.

Pardon my ignorance here (not a photographer lol) but why does a camera "need" android?
Because all digital cameras are really just that - they have proprietary apps and their own little operating systems that you use to store your preferences, transfer your pictures off, etc etc.

And those little operating systems that they put on cameras, in my opinion, really suck and suck badly.

With Android, you know what you got, the quality is there and you can do anything camera-related (Photo Editor Pro and Snapseed ftw) right on the device. If it's got a network connection, boom, share your photos your favorite way, done.

So it's basically a smart-phone but with some real camera features, like a large, quality lens and sensor. Only thing I think it does need is xenon strobe flash rather than LED, then it would be perfect. It's thick enough because of the lens, so it could accommodate a xenon flash probably. Main problem with LED flash, it's no good at freezing motion, especially in clubs and things where's there's usually poor light but lots of movement.

I think this camera idea rocks I know it will help with the news reporting and making the president look a lot younger with its crisp clear shots. Also will come in handy with government law enforcement and crime solving. I think every mass transit system will be on this slim and sleek looks and crisp shots o yeah .
