Help Threaded messaging in Samsung Galaxy S2

apoorvh1

Lurker
I am new to android phones and have just purchased Samsung Galaxy S2.

I was wondering, if the messaging view could be changed to display sms based on recieved, sent etc category. I mean, at a glance on messaging app, I am not able to make out whether the sms shown in the list was recieved on the phone or sent from the phone. It is confusing :(
or is there any app on Android market for this?

Handcent, free from the Market, not only shows different coloured bubbles for sent and received but can also diplay different fonts and show sender and contact photo thumbnails.

Hope this helps. :D

actually i am looking for categorization of conversation list like in normal phone (inbox, sent items, deleted items) or like in HTC sense. Galaxy categorizes based on contact.
Though i did like the app. it is least better than stock one :-)

Hi, I'm new here, and I joined looking for an answer to the same question, also on a Samsung S2, purchased only last week (jan 2012).

For various reasons I prefer not to group my texts into conversations. It would be more helpful to be able to see all texts in chronological order, regardless of the contact. Is there a way to do this? Or is there an SMS app that just does texts in a more traditional way?

Next point:

I could live with the standard message app if there is a way to start a new conversation with an existing recipient. At the moment, anything I send to Friend A will be tacked onto the previous conversation I had with Friend A, as far as I can tell until the thread reaches its limit of 200 texts.

To be able to start a new conversation with the same person, instead of extending an old conversation, would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for any and all replies!
Bostick :-)

Hmmph, don't think much of this forum. Even a moderator hasn't come on with a helpful suggestion, a welcome, a hello, redirection to coverage of this issue elsewhere, or anything. Do they even follow their own forum? I appreciate the question may appear to be settled (but that was last year, so it might have changed), or may not be very popular, or perhaps is stupid. Perhaps if I put in some swear words it will be flagged and the mods will wake up. Bollocks, ****, shit, piss, wank, ****. There, that ought to do it. Mods, please feel free to delete that bit and deal with the question. By the way, hello.

Blimey, automatic censorship, so the mods don't even need to look. For the record, the deleted words are fLIck and cLInt. I'm outta here, I won't bother checking back. If anyone has anything to offer, please send a PM. Ciao.

I don't think there is a way, Android phones typically do use threaded messages, personally I prefer them...
