Three branded phone

Hello,

Finally upgraded from the antique HTC desire. Got my phone from three, will be unlocking and switching to my actual network (O2, for my sins) asap. However, how do I tell if I have three firmware, and how do I remove it if so?

Um. thanks. Guess this will take a while to be answered since no one else appears to have ever posted here.

I'm sure I'll have more questions soon.

Not sure of specifics on removing, but you'd most likely need to go the custom ROM route?

You'll be able to tell if it's 3 firmware via the boot animation, if you see a 3 logo displayed during boot, it'll be 3 software. Also look out for pre installed 3 apps (like the Three app for example).

Alas, yes to the boot animation. (I don't mind ignoring the apps and the boot - but will it mean it wont get software updates when I change my sim card to O2?)

Thank you

You should get software updates no problem, I always have when I've used unlocked phones. I think they release updates to IMEI numbers (they don't change, regardless of the SIM).
