Help Thrill won't turn on but can charge

Lurker
When I charge my phone, the screen goes to the LG screen then shows the battery charging or as fully charged; it then goes to black.

The phone was working in the morning. By late afternoon, I was noticing that the screen was going to black really quickly. It then turned off in the middle of an email.

I went to AT&T to see if they could help. They tried the volume down and power down to no avail. They said it could be the battery but they had no battery to test out that theory. Luckily there was a Batteries Plus nearby and they kindly let me try out a new battery in case that was the problem, it wasn't.

So, now several questions. Is there any hope for this phone? Can it be a hardware problem, and if so, where would I send it? Is there any way I can recover anything from the internal memory? I transferred my simm card and SD card to another phone and they worked.

I am technologically ignorant (I only recently upgraded to a smartphone) so plain language please.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Take the battery out, take the SD card out if you have one. Wait about 10 seconds, insert JUST the battery. The phone should vibrate, now press and holds the power button till the LG logo comes up. You can now insert the SD card. IDK why, buy there seems to be a glitch when you try to power the phone on with the SD card.

Edit: The phone I've done this trick on was on 4.0.4, IDK what firmware you are on, but worth a shot.

Sources: My son has one and ran into this problem last week, took me 10 seconds to try this and it worked.
