Help Thumbnails not deleted !

In the folder "DCIM/.thumbnails/" I have a thumbnail of all the photos taken with my phone. The thumbnails for the photos I have deleted are still in the folder. How can this be, and is it possibly to deleted the thumbnail when you delete the photo ?

It should be deleting the thumbnails when the photos are deleted, but I've noticed on some phones that if you move the photos off to your PC they thumbnails often remain. So I just mount the card and delete the thumbnail folder manually whenever I get around to it. The phone will rebuild the folder and start adding current thumbnails as needed, so it won't hurt anything.

I've noticed that some of the thumbnails are created then date stamped differently to the originals. I have all my photos date stamped and in folders for years/months/event etc
