Thumbs way up for Juicedefender!

I finally tried Juicedefender out of sheer desperation to get more battery life out of my Optimus. It works! I have it in default mode and from 5AM this AM to now, 1:30, I am still at 82% battery life - that's 8.5 hours and yes I've been using the phone off and on all day. This time yesterday, before trying this program I was at about 28% and looking for a charger. It really is a small miracle.

I guess what it does is turn off your 3g and wifi radio when your screen goes blank. The only down side I see is now I will not be able to receive VOIP calls using Juicedefender but I can deal with that for now.

Just had to mention this app as in one day I went from wanting to throw my phone up against a concrete wall to loving it!

Just using the default setup. I think you have to pay to do anything more than default but I could be wrong on that.

Appbrain isn't loaded on the phone. There is the official Google Marketplace app only.
Maybe you are using a custom rom that came with the appbrain app.

I haven't had the OP's problem, so I can only give general troubleshooting advice, but have you tried making sure the new gmail account is setup in sync and then restarting the phone?

You may have to do a complete reset also to setup the new gmail account on the phone. (which will wipe EVERYTHING off the phone, contacts and downloads and everything, EVERYTHING WILL BE GONE! If you do it without backing up everything there is NO WAY to get it back)

I just do those things manually. When I'm at work I turn on Airplane mode, when I'm home I use WiFi instead of 3g. I keep the screen as dim as readable, and only turn on gps when I need it. My battery lasts me all day unless I'm on it for a couple of hours straight, and only then do I even think about recharging.

Juice Defender friggin rocks! I've had it installed for a few weeks now and am averaging almost 2 days a charge. As a matter of fact I've had it unplugged for 3 hours today and is still at 100%. You can customize the free version as I have to keep the data from cutting off when I have Pandora running! Hats off to the developer!

First night on JD and am at 60% after 14+ hrs. Usaully at this point my battery is complelty dead so big thanks to OP for the heads up. Like OP was not overly thrilled with the battery life before JD but now loving the phone even more. Running free version with custom setting & 30 min bkgrd connectity setting. No problems with re-enabling the 3G after unlocking. Will report back after a few more days and more testing.

JuiceDefender works really well. It just takes the simple principle of power management and makes it easy. For anyone that hasn't and really wants to tweak it. Paying for the Pro key is totally worth it if you're willing to take a little time to configure it the right way.

Hi everyone... Haven't posted before but JuiceDefender has worked so well for me that I had to unlurk. It's eliminated the need for daily charges just using the default settings. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm a little confused on how to use JuiceDefender. I had to uninstall Advanced Task Killer for some reason so it wouldn't conflict. Then I try to tap the aggressive option but everytime I go back to the homescreen and reenter JuiceDefender it goes back to Default. What custom settings are you guys using?

2 days on a charge it sounds like BS to me, i donn't care if you shut off every Radio,

I've had JD for a couple of weeks and it didn't really impress me. However, I did mess with the settings to keep 3G up and running. I switched it to default and plugged it in the other night. I wanted to see how long mine would go with JD at default. Pulled it off the charger yesterday morning, ran navigation for 45 minutes to get me to a new client, used the phone off/on all day including checking gmail and FB, set the phone down around 10pm last night with 58% battery life and woke up this morning with it still showing 55% battery life. I'm gonna let it go without charging today to see when it will finally die.

I'm still loving it. Last night at bedtime I had 70%. I almost let it go to see how long I could get but didn't feel like taking the chance. Perhaps on a weekend.

For those asking, I simply have it in the default setting and I'm totally happy with it.

BTW, the building where I work is all metal and I know for a fact it kills the battery searching for a singal in such a low signal environment so I know I could be doing even better if not for my office.

In all the battery life threads I see something about turning off the phones "radio". Does this refer to an actual FM receiver searching for a signal or what?

I have the free JD and it works great. How to you set it to not turn of data when running Pandora? I had to disable JD when running Pandora, but it would be nice to not have to go through that step.

Thanks

Try using the custom setting and configure Pandora to be one of your 4 "visible" apps under the Triggers tab. I use Audiogalaxy for streaming music and it works pretty well so far

Use JD in conjunction with Y5 Battery Saver since the free version of JD doesn't turn off the wifi radio when you're not in range. Gives added battery savings.

I made it to 4:30 pm Pacific when the phone dropped to 15% battery. I used gmail, made 9 minutes in calls and checking VM and a few minutes no FB. Not bad, that's 38-ish hours on one charge.

JD is working great for me!
the only problem is that because it disconnects data when its locked etc..... i dont really get push email. if new email comes , it will notify my after i unlock it. not in real time.. so annoying!!!

juice defender is good. i used to have it on all the time but it would interfere with pandora and other stuff that uses 3G, so now i only put it on for long car trips. comes into handy and times when i have low battery and no way to charge.

i did that, and it still drops occasionally. may be pandora, however. hard to tell.
