Help Thunderbolt/4g data pricing?

i chatted online yesterday with a VZW rep,

You: any info on LTE data pricing? i've heard rumors of $29.99
Alice: Right now it still is $29.99.
You: as in--the regular "unlimited data" package currently offered by VZW?
Alice: Nothing has been given if it will change but we will post that information online when it is available.

here's hoping it stays the same!

(the rest of the conversation was basically spent interrogating her to see if she was a robot with automated responses)

so i just heard something new from my local verizon rep (in Atlanta), and maybe this is old news, but it was a shock to me. (obviously, take this with a grain of salt.)

after asking several questions about signal strength and 4g-related questions, she told me that on the 24th, the thunderbolt would be available, but would only run on the 3g cdma network until summer, when they would officially launch the mobile 4g lte network. this would mean that no matter where you are, the thunderbolt would only be 3g till some time this summer. she called it a "4g ready" phone, to be later upgraded to 4g.

did i miss this? i was under the impression that if you were in a 4g city, it worked at launch. i guess i was being overly optimistic...

That would be shocking if it is true.

That seems unlikely. I have a Verizon/LG USB 4G modem and I'm on 4G with it right now. It works well. From a marketing standpoint, they gain far more by getting a fully functional 4G phone to market as soon as they can, particularly with AT&T's 4G coming (likely) this summer and Sprint's 4G already online.

i agree that it doesn't make sense, and i asked why. "if the 4g lte network is already up for aircards, why would it not work with the thunderbolt at launch?" she said she wasn't sure, but that the mobile 4g lte network would go live nationwide early this summer.

again, i don't totally trust her word as fact, but short of a total misunderstanding/miscommunication, why would she share this information to a potential customer? it seems silly, but i wouldn't necessarily call it "unlikely", seeing how verizon has handled this launch so far.

Ok, we already saw all of your duplicate posts over all the other threads-all the same, all bs, all trying to undercut the phone. I don't know what you are doing here, but I hope the mods find out.

This is my understanding as well, I live in an LTE area. VZW has been selling the LTE modems for a while now and the plan price for those is 29.99.

If anyone is confused (more than already), the prices are always available on Verizon website.

Smartphones currently only have one plan
29.99 for unlimited data (though they did recently make a page about throttling the top 5% users--and how would anyone know what that is? maybe it was to announce their position)

There is a hotspot plan available. $20/2 gig-not sure if more tiers.

The air cards (LTE modems) are $50/5 gig and $80/10 gigs. I think these are the only two tiers, not sure.

excuse me? i have been eagerly awaiting the thunderbolt just like the rest on here. everyone has been sharing information, as this is a public forum, and is intended for such use. i still think this phone is far and away the best option out there, but in my pursuit of answers, i came across this bit of possible information. i stated clearly that this was merely an isolated bit of unconfirmed info (a.k.a. rumor), and yet still i get jumped on like i'm some iphone fanboy? uncalled for, steveanderson1357.

as for posting it on different threads. i did so only as it pertained to the ongoing conversation on that thread. i didn't carpetbomb this forum with spam, nor did i speak in absolutes. i would be the first to rejoice if this were nothing but misinformation - believe me. it did, in my opinion, merit mentioning within the context of the conversations in progress.

i feel that i was being rather level-headed about the situation, and i believe any moderator would side with me -- especially with as much misinformation as is being slung around on this forum.

good day, sir!

Why the hell would you spam the forums with this crap?

as i stated, i was trying to see if anyone else had heard anything similar. didn't know that asking a question about my isolated experience would throw the nerd realm into a fit.

like i said, it may very well be just another bit of misinformation, but it couldn't have come from a more credible source unless verizon came out of their tower to impart wisdom to the masses.

i've been reading a lot about this phone, but i may give it up if it turns me into a forum troll, as it clearly has to others.

You're posting irrelevant stuff all over, basically just smacking a copy pasta job everywhere. Create a new thread about it and confine the discussion to that thread. No need to be spreading that everywhere.

my mistake. didn't feel that a thread was necessary. i felt it was pertinent to the conversation in each thread it was posted at the time.

not trying to cause a panic. i'd love to shrug it off as easily as you guys seem to be, but it was a compelling conversation. we can only wait and see.

Thank you 66dude. Did you get an infraction? I did--for calling a spade a spade. I am only now seeing your post.

How is a rumor of a release date or rumor of LTE-ready-later (?????) pertinent to the thread of 4g pricing? Or pertinent to any of the threads in which the duplicates were posted?
