Root Thunderbolt Bluetooth fix

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask...
After hours on Google I've come to find out that the reason my phone will not connect to my Wiimote and just sometimes has issued with Bluetooth is due to a crappy Bluetooth driver or something (stack?). I've read that all HTC phones suffer from this issue, as well as Samsung? Anyway, I read that certain roms have proper Bluetooth support, because the stack is at the kernel level. I downloaded and tried one such ROM, but I really couldn't warrant giving up the rom I have now just for using the Wiimote. So here's my question. Aren't kernels and roms separate? I know with my rooted transformer that I can install new kernels but I wasn't sure if that's just a feature of the ROM I'm using. If we can install separate kernels, and the Bluetooth problem is in the kernel, can't we fix it that way? I'd really like to use a wiimote or PS3 controller.

Please forgive any ignorance I've displayed, I rooted my phone but am still new to all the ideas that come with it. Also this post was Swyped, so forgive any misspells.

Last but not least, in case it matters I'm running the infected eternity ROM by virus.

im not sure about your bluetooth prollem... however, you are correct that kernels are able to be installed seperately,so if you can trace your issue to being kernel related,it should be fixable without having to change your rom.

sorry i couldnt be of more help than that, but i didnt want your post to just go completely unanswered :)
