Thunderbolt delays...anyone starting to consider other options?

Unfortunately, I have to agree that the convos posted from Verizon and BB did all say they were waiting for the phone too...

I keep putting the Incredible in my shopping cart on Verizon's site, but the Thunderbolt thoughts, keep me from submitting...
 
I've been bidding on a Driod Incredible on ebay. Looks like the are going for $165+. I will then sell my Eirs back to Version for $132. So, I'm hoping to have no more then $40 into the upgrade to the Incredable. I'm going to use it and save my upgrade to the TB. I may even wait a while for the price to drop some.

I feel you. but the way i see it, the longer we have waited for this phone, the less valuable TB becomes. This device would have been a clear choice a month ago, but a few weeks from now, it could be much less special. The smartphone industry is perhaps the single most rapidly evolving industry right now. The best and the newest is always getting one-up'ed by the next one. I would have gotten this phone in a heartbeat a month ago, but after having waited for this long, i see much less reason to. I did my time (unwillingly and unexpectedly) - might as well make it count.

Just waiting to see what else LG, Samsung, HTC's got coming up.
 
I am the 'proud' owner of a 28 month old feature phone on AT&T. I have been dying to get off AT&T ever since I heard about 4G on Verizon. Having waited 4-5 months for LTE to make an appearance on smartphones, I am sure I've got it in me to hold on for a few months more if the need arises ;)

Im sure you already saw the answer to your question, but just in case; When you upgrade/start a new plan, you have 14 days to return the phone, and i specifically asked how many times your allowed to do this, and the manager of my verizon store said that he wouldnt allow me to change it out more than 3 times...Which i gotta imagine would be plenty of time for the TB to come out.

Dinc right now, if the TB isnt out in 14 days, im gonna fart around with the palm pre 2 for awhile. I love WebOS, always just needed more powerful hardware.

I bet he means 3x WITHIN the 14 days. It's not, return one on day 13, get another 14 days, return another on day 13, get another 14 days. You'll have to be within your 14 days for the whole 3 replacements.

The only problem is you have to be exact when dialing. My grandmother still has one and if you misdial, there's no "clear" or "backspace". You have to hang-up and dial again.

I'm not sure about you, but my cell phone works when the power goes out. If you're worried about charging, get a solar charger. I have one built into my messenger bag. I leave it in the sun all day and it has enough charge stored to charge my phone back to 100%.

Would take forever to get help if you misdialed 911. LOL

I don't know about you, but here in SW PA, I wouldn't count on the sun shining all that much.
 
Right now I have the Incredible, so "upgrading" means I'd have to wait whether I go with the TB or not. So I may as well get what I've been waiting for. And hopefully, it'll be out before the others, so....

Same here. I'm upgrading 1. because I REALLY want this phone and 2. because I will be eligible for upgrade in a year, so I can get something else at that time if I want to.

Wait a minute, how do you do this? I have an Eris that I will be upgrading. I didn't realize that Verizon had any sort of buy back program. Care to elaborate?
 
According to the guys on the Eris forum, Verizon has a trade in program where you can get a $132 gift card (http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/228336-verizon-buying-back-eriss-132-a.html). Of coarse it has to be spend with Big Red. I'm okay with that because I plan on using it to pay my bill.

I got lucky and bought a nice Droid Incredible off eBay that cost me $132.50 including shipping. I can put it on my plan in place of my Eris and I'm only out 50 cents. I will then send my Eris for the $132. Best of all, I can keep my upgrade for the TB when it finally comes out.

Yeah but check how old that was, I think it has changed and is only 32 bucks now.
 
Since the Eris is only $32 now, Ebay has a similar program. I can get 62-80 something bucks for my Eris depending on condition (I have one dent that might throw it off). I'm sending it in after my X I bought for $269 comes in. If the Bolt comes out with a decent battery, or another phone I like, I can send in the X for $200 as of right now. I'll be out at the minimum of $9, or could make a little off of it!
