Thunderbolt delays...anyone starting to consider other options?

Up to this point, it's not as big or bad as the Incredible delay... of which I followed VERY closely as I preordered the Dinc and got it a day before it's technicle launch. Then I was using a blackberry flip phone so I couldn't wait to drop that dinosaur for the Inc. Now at least I have a very nice DX which I really am happy with and don't "need" to waste my upgrade unless the upgrade is just that much better than the DX is now. So while the delay for me is frustrating, I'm not sweating it nearly as much.
 
I got an Inspire 4G from ATT instead of the TB from Verizon. I took the Inspire back and cancelled my ATT contract (only cost $40 for me).

The TB delay allowed me to research the hell out of my next phone and today I picked up the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I LOVE IT. My 4G speeds are awesome, web loads so fast. Slowest download speed has been 2.96 Mbps and that was with 1 bar on 4G in a moving car. I've hit 7.2 Mbps with 3 bars on 4G. That's about all the speed I need, to be practical and realistic. I'm not launching the Space Shuttle.

Verizon says 4G LTE will yield 5-12 Mbps. That's cool, but T-mobile is already doing that. And no battery problems with HSPA+, and it's already in 100 cities, and unlimited data, and free wireless tethering, and 1500 minutes and unlimited texts for $79.99. Can't pass that up. The Galaxy S 4G has an awesome screen as well.

Anyway - best of luck to those who are waiting. I bet the T-Bolt will be great, but I'm quite happy with my choice.

I was with Tmo for eight years, but got tired of no coverage areas and then sloooow 3G proliferation in my state. 3G is still only in a few areas, yet alone 4G. This is the price I pay living in a cool state like Kentucky ;)

Must admit I miss easy sim card hopping from phone to phone :(

Kentucky is awesome, but not so much for cell coverage! I was worried about the coverage, but so far so good. This phone can do VOIP calling, and it works great. That will help in areas with poor coverage.

Georgia has a lot better data infrastructure than Kentucky. I had Tmo with my first smart phone- an Ngage :) :eek:

Oh, I agree with you in that respect. I had a Storm (I relapsed and went back to BB for a VERY short period of time. Never again!) so the wait was crucial! I just switched it up on my INC and went from ADW back to Sense to give me the "new" feeling again. It's working for the moment. ;)
 
Do i really need a t bolt or can i suffice with an X or Dinc? I'm at a feature phone now and moving to a smart phone. The reason I'm waiting for the t-bolt is that i want the fastest networking capability as i think that is the slow point in smart phone use for the reasonable future. I'm not a huge gamer so i don't think i need to wait for the power of the bionic but of the 4 lte phones i think the t-bolt is supposed to have the best audio which i care about a lot. I'm not usually an early adopter so what other reasons can i justifty spending the 250 (or 300) on a tbolt to myself when it comes out.

Honestly, being on the Incredible right now and coming from the EVO, i wanted the TB specifically for a more "butter smooth" operating experience. I don't game on my phone, i just surf the web, youtube and check a few apps neurotically everyday (MMA junkie, Engadget, CNET, ect.).

I basically wanted the Evo, but with the Iphones smooth operation. I gotta say, I'm very impressed with the DINC, its exactly what i would have been happy with with the TB. The only reason i still want the TB is "4g", Larger screen for web browsing/youtube.

And the kickstand...OH MY GOD I miss my kickstand!

I switch up launchers myself sometimes - gives a different flavor. And I love Sense. By far the best stock launcher that I've seen on Android. Blackberry.... I was so excited a couple years back when I got my BB pearl flip.... I wanted (at that time) a BB in a smaller physical form. I have big fingers and couldn't use the traditional buttons on a regular blackberry as they were too small, so the fatter buttons on the BB flip was nice. But I doubt I ever consider RIM again as their OS and entire lineup seems years behind current android/iphone development. RIM is a texting/emailing phone. Android phones are all that plus a mini laptop to boot. Love it.

Thanks. From a usage point of view the kickstand and the big speaker behind it seem to be big selling points. The only thing missing may be HDMI out but i really have nowhere to send it to that's better than the native screen. Ha.

Ya, in the 6 months i had the evo, i used the hdmi out port a total of zero times. Honestly, its hard to imagine going to someones house where they have a tv with HDMI in, and nothing that can do netflix.

The Samsung Stealth isn't supposed to have Bing on it.
For all the complaints about Samsung not updating the phone, HTC has done a horrible job with the HTC Incredible. The update to Froyo introduced a bunch of bugs which they never have fixed. Its a much less stable phone than it was. And the Incredible is crippled by a 150MB limit on application data size which is used up by built in apps. Why bother to have 8GB of memory then arbitrarily limit it to 150MG. And HTC doesn't bother to fix it.

HTC also has this you bought it, you're stuck with it attitude.

The 150MB problem is why I'm leaning towards waiting to see what comes out after the continuously delayed Thunderbolt. Samsung Stealth, LG Revolution, Motorola Bionic.

Get real, T-Mo is a joke. Worst coverage in the nation. Lousy phones. Prices aren't any better.

Why anyone would consider T-Mo is beyond me.

In my area T-Mo has little 3G coverage. Even where they do claim coverage, they never have it, including multiple T-Mobile stores. They renaming their 3G coverage as 4G is a joke. They might as well call it 5G.
 
I'm really interested in the new Incredible S if it comes to VZW. Being that 4g LTE is gonna be at least another year for my area, this would be a great phone until then! :)

Maybe it sucks where you are at, but people who dont want to blow money on Verizon and get good Tmobile service wanting a better value are smart IMO. Some people do not want to deal with Verizons yo yo plans.

I have Metro pcs right now.(waiting for new phones from tmo later this summer) I havent had any dropped calls yet and browsing has been great with wifi and slow without (they have no true 3g) but dooable. Again some people dont want to blow too much money on what amounts to faster speeds.

There are a few reasons to consider T-Mobile actually. First of all, if they do have coverage where you live and work and happen to be 99% of the time, they are the cheapest carrier if you get a no contract plan. Nobody else has unlimited minutes(mobile, land line, doesn't matter), unlimited text, unlimited data, and tethering for $79.99 a month. The Nexus S is an example of an outstanding T-Mobile phone.
 
Now that it looks like Thunderbolt will be delayed to 3/17, how many of you will wait till the CTIA announcement on 3/22 before purchasing the phone.
How would you feel if HTC/Sprint announces a dual core EVO 4G with 3D, HDMI, 1080p recording which docks to an HTC EVO Flyer?

Well sprint is behind verizon when it comes to the better network.. I rather have the Thunderbolt on verizon the the Evo 2 on sprint. The evo 2 if it is even announced well be the same maybe just a bit better than the TB.
 
Wonder why VZW has so much more business than Sprint ??
Could it be the phones , network ?
Gee Sprint doesn't even have a HTC Incredible or an Iphone4 .
Wonder what their great phones are ?? :D:D:D

Ya, my evo on "4g" here in bellingham, wa would consistently get lower speeds than my dads droid x on 3g...pretty disappointing
