Thunderbolt is truely a great device

This phone is made very well and has the kickstand which is very nice to have when watching videos. It runs the latest fastest network speeds (4G LTE) even though the phone is going on a year old. It has a great 4.3 inch display and in some ways I like the dimensions of this phone better than the Rezound. I don't really like tall screened phones rather have a more square screen. Also the Thunderbolt comes with a 32MB SD card where many of the latest phones out only come with the 16MB SD. Rooting is awesome on the Tbolt and you can even get a codec for the beats audio for it (awesome) and sense 3.5 which is freaking fabulous, and it's nice to have the option to debloat this sucker. It may not have the dual core processor, but has alot of potential to work at lightening fast speeds and not to far behind the latest greatest phones.

I know we had rebooting, overheating issues. Those all been fixed, some of the early releases of the Tbolt had some defects, normal for being a phone so ahead of it's time. I got a refurbished in OCT 2011 Tbolt and it's damn near perfect. The original Tbolt I had I got only 2 months from release and it had a problem of getting a little warmer than I like it and for some reason it would not update to the gingerbread so I swapped it out for my current Refurb. All in all I say this phone is pretty much the king when you look at the current cost of the device and all that you get with it. I think the Tbolt looks alot better than the Rezound from a cosmetic point of view. I'm not knocking the Rezound if I had to get another phone it would be the Rezound or the Razr Maxx.

There is nothing currently available that would make me consider changing, and I have 2 upgrades available. Doesn't matter how many cores or resolution factors to me. Nothing is better than this phone. The voice and data on 3g is another factor, which, the Rezound does have in it's favor.

I'd say once you take the hardware combined with the strong development support, the Thunderbolt is still the phone to own.

The Rezound has voice/data over 3G? The Thunderbolt does have that feature. I thought it was the only one.

As much as I b&tch about this phone, and it does have it's faults, I use it more than I ever expected to use it. It's really become more critical to getting stuff done than I imagined and the 4G speed is really handy. Battery life sucks, so what, I got two back up batteries that I can swap out no sweat.

I like the screens on the Samsung phones better. That is all I am missing.

So it sounds like the newer Bolts don't have the issues the earlier ones had?

I'm researching for a friend of mine and wondering if this or the Dinc2 would be best for her.

She most likely will leave it completely stock, so will it still be a good choice? She's only going to be a light user - calls, txts, email and maybe a little surfing/youtubing - and she's coming from a 3-4 year old flip phone, so either phone is going to be an improvement. 4g is nice but she can probably do without it so that's why I suggested the Dinc2 to her as well. Both these phones are basically free right now.

Thanks.

I had a launch day thunderbolt. Now granted, we had to struggle though some major issues initially, but once they were resolved the phone was great! I have moved onto the Galaxy Nexus which to be honest dominates the thunderbolt (love me some stock ICS!). My wife now uses my thunderbolt, and from time to time I will play with her phone. I am still amazed at how quick the phone still runs. It is like the little engine that could.... and man do I miss my kick stand! Great phone!

Really the dinc2 and tbunderbolt are said to be basically the same phone. Only real difference is the dinc2 doesn't have 4g.
Yeah, it seems like it from the reading I've just done. She might prefer the smaller size of the Dinc2. I'm seeing her tomorrow so I'm going to try to take her by a Verizon store to check them out in person.

Great, so no need to worry about the Bolt. I was looking at that phone for myself and loved the kickstand idea. I ended up taking my time researching and then got a Rezound, which I'm in love with (I like Sense ;)), and got a case with a kickstand. Don't love the look of the case but do like the feel and the kickstand. I'm trying to get her to get a Rezound so I can tweak it like mine but she probably won't spend the money, even though it's $80 right now on wirefly.

Thanks to both of you for the input!

I got mine in January, upgraded from the Dinc(great phone). I like the bigger screen and 4g speed, my batt life is not bad either. Haven't had the urge to look at new phones lately.

I was cosidering getting the Gnex or Rezound for my upgrade, but I'm probably just going to keep my TB. Rooted with a ROM. . . who needs a new phone?

I'm quite happy with my TBolt and, to be honest, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it has continued to do compared to other devices despite it being a single-core phone. I'm looking forward to the ICS update and, hopefully, Sense 3.6 - the lighter version of Sense!

I concur with everyone here who states the phone is great. I have had this phone for a year (I came from a DInc) and let me tell you I use it for everything. I am due for 2 upgrades this year, but won't even consider a new phone until my faithful T-bolt gives up the ghost.:)

add me to the TBolt love.. the kick stand just completes my crush on this phone. there is NOTHING out right now that peaks my interest. i was all about the GNex, but it doesn't have a wow factor in my eyes. i sometimes get free phones from a hookup i have, but i have been on a release day TBolt with 2 upgrades on my account for 2 months or so.

my TBolt does EVERYTHING i have ever asked it to do! yeah the battery is a pain at times, but i'm never too far from a charge.

:D
