Thunderbolt Launch Day Speculation/Rumor Thread

Damn damn damn, they better release it the 10th! My return date is the 13th! I dont want to deal with that if its pushed to the 17th...

The grand assumption here being the 17th is the latest possible date......

As long as I hear by the 10th, I wouldn't mind the 17th. It is this lack of knowledge that is the problem. If the 11th comes around with no information, I'm headed to the dark side (Inspire 4g).
 
same here. I don't care so much as to what the actual date is as long as I know what the date is instead of being left in the dark.

Is the inspire the same phone for the most part? I just wonder about their 4g?

couldn't have said it better myself.

I guess advantage of getting the phone from bestbuy is the 30 day exchange policy. I got my service activated on the 21st, so I will be within my return period even on the 17th. If not then I guess I will hang on to the phone I got and live with it for six months and use the free buy back to get another phone.

ATT is straight up lying about their 4g network. if you call 150kb upload speed 4g then something is seriously wrong with att. I doubt their backhaul is even complete yet. I honestly dont think their network is even active yet and they are already advertising as if it is. I guess big corporations get away with lying as long as they word it right.

They disabled the HSUPA feature on the phone and called it 4g, WTF. Why would you kill the upload feature on the phone and call it 4g. I think iphone still is the best phone on ATT if you care about the overall speed. It consistently gets 2 to 3mb down and over 1.5mb upload speed.
 
What is the general opinion? Is it the 10th or 17th? I think we will see an announcement Tuesday with preorders starting on Wednesday and the phone hits retail on the 17th. From a business view, better to string out the store visits over a couple of weeks then cram it all in one. Let the ipad have its big weekend push and then pump up the excitement for the TB.

Maybe we will see the 14th.. I really wanted this thing for the ACC tourny coverage :(

EDIT: We may also see this release at BB on the 10th (Already did Pre orders) and in verizon stores on the 17th..

What makes you think the phone will hit BB first? Sympathy for this ordeal?

Yea.. Its just a guess as they have already done all there pre orders.. So lets say they ship it starting monday or tuesday.. All the people that pre ordered at BB already might be able to pick it up when they get them it. (Thursday) Who knows. Just a guess (and hope)
 
I preordered back on the 6th, so I am stinkin ready for this thing. I hope that they are shipping this week. That would be the only thing good that's come out of this bb deal.
 
I am hoping for this to roll out the same way the iphone did. They announce it on Tuesday and take orders on Wednesday, start shipping same day and have it by the weekend. If memory serves me, I believe they like to do ten day windows for phone releases. Maybe the preorders at BB will come in early. I am ordering on line so I have no skin in the BB game.
 
Im guessin March 31 straight up, that way VZ can say, "we said Q1 along blah blah.." they'd be right, in a twisted way. very weak. not even getting my hopes up for 17th-

I believe that the release will definately be the 17th. As good as the 10th sounds they are not going to release it the day before the iFad 2 comes out. All signs are pointing towards it not being released this week. The resurgence of the best buy ads makes sense 2 weeks before the release of the TB, to create a little more hype. Verizon consistantly announces on a monday/tuesday and releases on a thursday/friday so don't count this week out, we still got tomorrow :)

I preordered the TB on the sixth, cannot wait to get rid of my pos samsung omnia (i910)!!!

Welcome. I also agree with you on the 17th for virtually the same reasons you posted.
 
If, and I say IF the phone is ready and is coming on the 17th, they should allow Best Buy to sell it to those of us that preordered. I mean, we've been waiting over a month, and that way Verizon could continue to cater to Apple
