Thunderbolt Launch Day Speculation/Rumor Thread

I agree , but they are clueless (CSR's) ,but that was an outright lie that BB was selling the TBolts now. Would you want your cs reps lying to your customers??

Happens all of the time with companies that contract out their lower level support staff.

It is sad that some folks have to resort to harassing poor sales representatives to vent their ire. They probably have much less information about the Thunderbolt than regulars on this forum. I'm pretty sure they are not given any information beforehand either. It is extremely juvenile to bash the Verizon sales folks over a phone that is not released and over something that they don't have any information either.

Made me feel better..........
Plus I work in sales, and I'm used to it....felt good being on the other end for once.
Anywho...I said thanks when I was done...so no Biggie :D

If they would say " I don't know" instead of lying or making something up ,
maybe there would be less harassment.

The last couple times I've called to see what they're saying, I've gotten honest reps who do simply say "We don't know, but it should be sometime towards the end of this month." The only time I got someone clearly making crap up was when I called one of our local Verizon stores and was told it would be this summer.

So, at least so far I've hit honest Verizon phone reps who aren't afraid to admit their ignorance, and I'm grateful for that sort of straightforward response.

I actually noticed that too about the iPhone page on VZW.com but didn't think anything of it... the Live Chat almost pops up immediately.

Did you sign up on the Verizon website for updates on the bolt? On the site you just give them your e-mail address, but if they cross referenced that and found out you are a current Verizon customer they may have been extra nice and gave you a call. ;)

no, did not sign up ,

I have been browsing the Verizon site for a while and haven't had that thing pop up once. They have a link on every product page to live chat.
(Using chrome, turned off my ad blocker..)

Update: Figured it out. It only pops that thing up when you click on the iPhone from the 'Phones & Devices' menu. if you shop for 'Smartphones' and choose iPhone as a 'Category', it will show up like all the other phones where the live chat is a button instead of a pop-up.

Here's another one could not resist...it's true just browse *phone and it pops up immediatly........

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.
You are now chatting with 'ShaNeal'
You: When are you releasing the thunderbolt!!!??
ShaNeal: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: When are you releasing the thunderbolt!!!??
ShaNeal: Unfortunately, at this time, not additional information has been released about this phone including the release date.
ShaNeal: Hi, just checking in how's everything going?
You: Okay then why when I browsed other phones live chat did not pop up....then the moment i look @ the iphone live chat pops up instantanously.....seriously you guys need to stop sucking up to crapple!!
ShaNeal: This live chat would only pop up at random.
You: Yes randomly (lmao) when I search iphone!!!
You: did it ten time already coincidence I think not
ShaNeal: Do you have anymore questions today on current phones and pricing?
You: Yes I do!
ShaNeal: Great!
ShaNeal: What else can I assist you with today?
You: How much is apple paying you guys to promote iphone!!?
ShaNeal: I currently would not have any information or access to Verizon's financial business. You would be able to use the Contact Us link at the top of e-mail Verizon directly on this matter.
You: Thanks.....:D

You're an idiot!

I have to say...people trolling the Verizon online CSRs is pretty immature, and gives a bad impression of Android users.

And for the dullards who say it's only iPhone when the chat pops up, that is patently false. The same thing happened to me when I was browsing the general category of Smartphones.

Grow up.

Well I just went to click more info on the iPhone and it popped up. Clicked it on the Inc and got nothing

no i have had enough with this crap

I'm with you there; that's why I tried out Sprint and the Evo for 3 days.

But the network was not nearly as good as Verizon :(

So I had to turn in my freakishly awesome Evo, and now stuck with this Samsung Fascinate until the T-Bolt comes out. (Samsung has never impressed me, and this continues that impression.) Bing?? No copy/paste from emails? Very laggy, and hangs on stupid things...Trying to long press to add a widget? You'll be waiting a minute just to see the list of widgets. Battery is good though.

With that said, I could NEVER go back to anything smaller than 4" now. I guess I'm one of those there 'size queens' or whatever it's called in homersexual community. OK, I'm trying to make a joke here or something.

The good news man, is that I just got an email from Verizon offering free Droid X refurbished phones...This in my professional opinion is a very clear sign that Verizon is trying to thin inventory to make way for new product.

Hold on; don't go over the dark side and the iPhone's small screen.

Ugh, I just had a chance encounter with our VZW rep when I went down to our R&D labs and the info was not good. She said that the TB won't be out till April for two reasons:

1. They want to clear the 30 day window for all the iPhone4 users that switched. They are super paranoid about iUsers jumping ship and looking bad in front of Apple after all the work they did to court them. When I said "well, wouldn't that put the TB against the iPhone5?", she said it won't see the light of day till mid-to-late summer, so no worries there.

2. VZW wants Skype video working and they're not taking no for an answer. They do not want to release this phone without a slew of killer apps that show off their LTE network and they consider this one of key things towards that goal. This was a much longer conversation than I can relay, but the summary is Corp. doesn't care about the phone and it's improved hardware as much as it is a vehicle to sell the public on LTE in their eyes. So they do not care about the cost of the delay because the cost of LTE is so much more.

The only good news she had was that there are primary distribution warehouses in CA and TX full of TB's and they're ready to go. They have more than enough stock for launch and could conceivably launch within 24 hours of notification from Corp.

Standard disclaimers apply. Take with a massive grain of salt. No, I cannot provide more proof to back this up; I enjoy having a job and it's not worth the risk. Not available in all states. Your results may vary. Yadda, yadda, yadda ...

:-(

Well, it was random for me, just like the rep said it was.

I clicked on different Droids, and it only popped up randomly.

No offense, but anyone telling me that Verizon is only interested in making money off one phone, when they have 50 to try and sell is not thinking clearly.

Thanks for sharing, but I choose not to believe this simply because of the marketing already in effect for the Thunderbolt. I bet it's going to be middle of March.

I hope it's not true. She is just a sales rep so she might not know what she's talking about. Her general attitude was "Only Apple and LTE matter. Everything else is small potatoes". That just has me a little worried.
