Help Thunderbolt New Kid. Update help

tbolt72

Newbie
Hello, I have had my Tbolt for about a month now with zero problems what so ever. I came from owning a blackberry storm, so a flip phone would be great after the storm lol. I bought the phone off craigslist for $175 since my upgrade date is not until Oct. Anyway the question I have is,,,, I have been getting these updates but I keep rejecting them since I am not having any problems with the phone. But I would like to update to the GB when it comes out. When I pull down the status bar it says I have 9 updates(I guess because I keeping hitting reject). When GB comes out how will I know that im selecting the GB update and not one of the other 9 that are waiting in que?

Thanks for any help that is offered:).

I think you are getting app updates confused with OTA updates. Open the market, press menu and my apps. There will likely be 9 apps that need to be updated.

And if you aren't rooted then I agree with Captn the most recent OTA hasn't caused any issues so feel free to update if prompted.

Yes, the updates push to your phone eventually. You can also request the current update under "Menu - Settings - Software Update", if you want to go ahead with the OS update (for stock unrooted phones).

Once it is pushed to your phone you will be prompted. Keep your eyes here on the forums once it is released this board will get very busy

Go right ahead and update. You'll be happy with the update and your Thunderbolt, especially after "weathering" the Storm, LOL. No version of update on the Thunderbolt was ever as bad as any version of software pushed for the Storm.

I have skype and the video calls work great,,,,that was another reason I dont want to update,,,,,heard of some not able to use skype after the update.

I just did the update yesterday. Everything seems fine, but I do have one weird thing going on. When I looked at my contact list all of the Verizon contacts were doubled. I wasn't sure why this was so I went to the Verizon store and the guy checked it out. He said that somehow, they were stored on the SIMM card. He shut it down, pulled the SIMM card out and reinstalled it and all that. Then by some magic, they were gone from my contact list. The thing is when I click on "Phone" at the bottom of the main screen, then the duplicate contacts are back, but only on that screen. Does anyone know how to remove them?

FYI I am kinda new to the whole smart phone thing, so I don't know my way around some of this stuff.

Thanks
