Root Thunderbolt Rooting Assistance

Scott_b

Newbie
I have a Droid X that I rooted fairly easy, and messed with the abd commands a little to get rid of the bloatware. I also rooted an epic for a friend with a little assistance so I have some experiance. I have a buddy with a thunderbolt that asked me if I could root his phone as well, and after about an hour and a half of research all I have been able to come up with is nadda. Everything I read is jiberish to me..... One guy said that once you set up the abd commands, that its a piece of cake. Can anyone assist me with setting up the adb for the process to root his device, and any help with the actual rooting would be great as well! Thanks in advanced for any help you guys are able to provide!

it says that will only work with firmware versions lower than version 1.12.605.9 but he is running 2.2.1. what would happen to his phone if I tried it anyways?

1.12.605.9 is 2.2.1. In the same area where you see 2.2.1 look for software number. As long as it's lower than 1.12.605.9 you're OK. If you're not sure how to view it go to menu > setting > About Phone > Software information > Then look for Software number.

They are the same exact files, they are just a mirror incase the first download link gets over run with people downloading from it. So unless you are having trouble downloading from the original link you can just ignore the mirrors.

Thank you, im downloading that plus the zip folder aswell. Do i put both files on the phone before I extract the zip?

Agreed but there is a leaked RUU with ther version .9 and it's 2.2.1 as well. I was just trying to help the OP with figuring out what version they had in order to root. I'm running a ROM right now based off of the .9.;)
