Root thunderbolt rooting methods(updated 8-24-2011)

That is the right rom for rooted MR2, and it should be fine to flash it isn't taking a shortcut as much as it is taking the shortest path instead of going NY to TX via CA. Not sure about the rom manager comment. I would suggest just learning how to flash without having to use rom manager, I got into a situation today where I couldn't get to my home screens and if I only knew how to flash roms via rom manager I would have been screwed.

The funny thing is, I started having OTA problems while on a small weekend vacation and became familiar with the recovery basics in attempting to clear cache and get the phone back to a useable state. I'm on an older version so I'm going to go ahead and upgrade that as well as install ROM Manager and get another backup in before moving forward.

Got everything updated. So far, so good. I'll see how it goes. It will be nice knowing my phone won't be in a state of error when I wake up in the morning.

No wipes, rename pg05img and flash in hboot. Its a small file, super fast flash but charge up anyway, better safe than sorry. Nope, wont wipe any data :)

Great help!
Now have shadowmites hboot installed between shadowmites hnoot, cm7.1, imo kernel and gb release 3 radio, this phone now blows stock out of the water!
Thanks for the quick and awesome help.

OK, I have 2 problems...one being that I keep getting a force close message for some operation that I don't even know what it is. It just randomly appears on my screen saying it needs to force close. I'm sure by the time I get done with this it will pop up again and I'll be able to tell you what it says. I put bloat freezer on my TB after I did the easy root method and only froze things that I KNOW are bloat. I'm pretty sure VZ Navigator and Blockbuster will fall into that...as well as Stocks. Anyways that's only problem number one. The second issue is that everytime I dial out a phone call it automatically puts the call on speaker. I didn't have this problem when I was stock. So what gives? And for right now I'm running stock but rooted. I like the stock setup and would like to keep it that way for now I just wanted all the bloatware to go away. So the force close message I get is "The process com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." OK...so there it is. I thank you all in advance for now and will thank you again when my issues are resolved.

Hi,
I'll try to help here...

For the fc trouble that error is related to background update. Culprits are usually facebook and twitter to check see if you disable them does the error stop if either of them were Frozen that could also cause this problem. If frozen unfreeze then disable update in accounts and sync for the app then refreeze.

For the speaker issue if you just updated gosms there was a bug that caused this, not a problem there is already an update to correct this.

Hope this helps you out,
Bryan

again coyotes... youll want to start a new thread. alot more folks are going to see it and read it that way. new threads will always get more attention than tacking things onto an allready existing thread that is not really related to.

this thread is to help with the process of rooting, wich you have done successfully.

other issues are best dealt with outside of here.

OK OK, Scotty I'll start a new thread if you will get both what I said and the reply to it moved to that thread. If you even have that power??

Sorry coyotes I do not have that power. Just go ahead and start it. Copy and paste your post above... I'm sure trapper will do the same :)

You'll get alot more answers with a new thread.

Edit: its ok for these posts to stay here. I am just trying to get you in the habit of starting new ones when you need to. :)

OK, well to correct any confusion I didn't mean to post that in this thread. Until you said something I thought I was in the right one...ever post something when it's late and you are really tired? Yep that's what I did.:D

Quick question, please. Can I do the Revoluntionary thingy when I don't have the sim card or the sd card in? I've tried to like the Charge, but want to go back to the TB.

but he should ;)

I used revolutionary today on my replacement phone. worked perfectly. :)

cigar#2 and blazer#2 are on the table, sir

You do realize the process isn't that long right?

i agree... power the charge off,put the sim in the TB,turn it on and its your active phone(sim cards are cool in that aspect :D) set it up the way you want, then run revolutionary. it literally takes like 5 minutes once youve download the tool, and downloaded/installed the drivers.
