Thunderbolt USB Tethered SpeedTest Video

Verizon: "Red flag, red flag. A user has just used 120 Mb in 3 seconds."

Impressive speeds!! I just read that article that explains how Sprint is complaining that Verizon is being awarded fastest 4G network. Not sure what they're complaining about.

Lol, their customers are happy if they hit 10mbps.

They are complaining because it was one of the only things they had to advertise... :P

I'm in NYC too (midtown Manhattan) and the fastest I've seen is 22mbps... Right now I'm getting 9.24mbps down... and earlier today - at 11:51am, I only had 2.73mbps down.

The only thing Sprint can advertise is that they have the fastest 3G (maybe true)... because that's what their 4G network - just 3G data with a speed boost.

Yup, their speeds are comparable with iPhone 4's HSDPA 7.2mbps or at best T-Mobile's HSPA+. I think Sprint is actually capping their users at 6mbps or 10mbps down and 1mbps up since they really don't have enough spectrum and backhaul.

look at that ping though. 55ms from NY to NJ?

45ms is the lowest I've seen but not every server has the same routing to myvzw.com and capacity.
That being said when doing a tracert to a site first few hops are high 30's low 40's. Verizon has created a monster!

Have you tried downloading a file to see how fast it is? The speeds at which I download a file seem to be different than the speeds I see on Speedtest.net.

I'm just not clear if USB tethering is also free until May 15th or not? I'm logging into my vzw page daily and I don't see any charge that's out of the unlimited data grouping so far.
