Hey all!
I'm brand new to the android universe and I gotta say I love it. My Note2 is still a baby (less than a month old). I hope you guys can help me keep her up and running as long as possible.

I do, actually. My note2 is unlocked (international, I guess?) I don't live in the US, so I got it unlocked then put it on my local network here. I'm a little paranoid about rooting it since I can't figure out what information is tailored to my device. Seeing different instructions for different carriers leads me to believe that the carrier of the device is somehow important.

It should be noted that it's an N7100 and the international version rooting guide here doesn't seem complete to me...

Hmm yes it is rather important to use the correct method, I'd suggest posting in the note 2 forums to see what the good people there say about it.

Sorry I couldn't help further since we don't have an international forum.

One question: would it matter what version of android I'm running? I'm using 4.1.1

I can't recall if it required that I have a certain version of android I'm running, but it worked (I didn't have to upgrade from 4.1.1).
My other problem now is that I need to backup my rom before I install any custom roms. I keep hearing about using clockworkmod recovery to do both, but I'm not sure how to install it on my already rooted device.

Ignore the us cellular part since all we are doing is loading cwm.

Just follow that guide and you'll be good to go :thumbup:
