Root Time, date stamp on nandroid backup?

* TRUCKS ARE BEAUTIFUL *
I just had to restore my nandroid backup, but before i did i made another backup and the date or timestamp reads : 1980 - 01- 06.00.34.28. 341 MB

I have stock backup, reads : 2012 - 05 - 29.16.48.40. 322 MB

The backup i restored : 2012-06 - 29.12.51.56. 325 MB

My question is 1.) Is that really how big "mb's " backups are?

2.) Obviously i have to delete one of them, as they take up too much space! ?

3.) I would like to keep the 2012 - 05 - 29 because this is stock rom.

4.) Can i trust to keep the 1980 - 01- 06 because this is the newest backup?

Any thoughts or comments, greatly appreciated!!!

Restore it and play with it for a couple of days to verify that it's a good backup.
