Root Time for a change of ROM?!?

These days I AOKP ROM development looks more rational. With the Sense ROM's it all unfinished work and moving on to new versions/bases with new versions of Sense, without getting a the previous versions fixed.

TrickDroid ---> Sense 4 Lite till version 3 ---> Moved to Sense 4.1 Lite with version 4 which was essentially a new ROM and did not carry over the improvements of version 1 to 3 ----> Now discontinued.

Sabsa ---> Sense 4 Lite till version 7 which was coming along nicely ---> Moved to Sense 4.1 Lite with version 8.

Virtuous Inifinity ---> Moving to a new base and Sense 4.1, and essentially being ported from scratch.

It would be nice if a Dev Team actually finished the job.

It makes you appreciate the commitment of RB, Lord and existz the way develop their ROM's.

Lord had stuck with ICS and is continuously improving that. existz is continuing to improve his ICS/Kernel 2.6 ROM. RB is working on JellyBean.

If the acted like the Sense developers, Lord and existz would stop their work on ICS and move to 4.1.1, 4.1.2 and now 4.2 without getting any version "fully working".

Most likely. Better than wondering if the Dev building your ROM knows what he is putting in it.

Have not seen you around lately. Nearly bricked someone's phone in your absence :D

Start of a long 4-day weekend, and I won't be flashing a new ROM. There is this Nandroid I probably will restore.

Just remember, whatever side I join becomes the Dark Side (I think D-U-R-X would approve of the change in classification)

ive been still cruising here daily, just been busy with replies in other forums(mainly the new gsm evo 3d forum) ,so havent had as much time to reply to the stuff you guys have done a fantastic job replying to allready :smokingsomb:

what phone did you almost brick?i musta somehow missed that

im sure you actually did a fine job with whatever it was

Oh the "Desire HD Fastboot not allowed thread" in the main Desire HD forum. You know me, fearless on ROM's, chicken on RUU's.

I have never done it myself. Not too fond of giving advice based on theoretical knowledge.

Ruu's seem pretty fine. Apart from waiting 50 minutes downloading it to find its the wrong one..
Also, I usually have to do it in fast boot as it doesn't work normally.

I rooted my mates DHD using the AAHK, so I could sim unlock it for him, then ran an unbranded RUU so he could give it to his mate to use on a different network. As I'd rooted mine the long way a year before, I was bricking it all the time both were running, but it was pretty harmless! :)

ral,.your advice was fine. when they are s-off and superCIDed,you can run literally any ruu to get back to a working phone. the unbranded ones are pretty much always a safe bet.

its just when theyre s-on,that you want to try and dig a lil and figure out the best thing.

lol,i almost run ruus more often than i flash roms  with the international phones i get a big kick out of flashing other carrier/regional ruus. i ran european ICS on my us t mobile sensation for months prior to its us release ;) the dhd and gsm evo 3d have alot of regional ruus as well.

got a new toy coming- an international one x... looks like theres a ton of ruus for that one! :D

I've flashed jellytime r24 tonight. Gonna see how the wake vs screen on goes with this one. With Pacman and cm10nightlies it was terrible regarding battery life. If this one's crap as well, then it's back to the ral recommended existz ics rom.

Well... it's been a while since I've done any flashing... think I'm gonna have to give a different Vanilla ROM a go - Sense just doesn't do it for me!

Just not sure whether to stick with ICS or give JB a go?!?!

Jelly Bean. Have you tried flashing JellyTime is with 4Ext? If I could sorry out battery life issues (which does not appear to affect everyone) I would be on JellyTime R29.

Does the new kernel help with wake lock issues? I should give it a try myself :D

Well... as I had a bit of spare time at work, I've changed recoveries (to 4EXT) and flashed PACman... just setting it up :)

No, but I'll check it out... it's been THAT long since I flashed anything, I think I may have to just try a couple out before settling on a ROM for another 6 months!! :)
