Help Time settings on phone

Hi all.

1st time poster but have often looked in for help and tips with my phone.

I have a problem now though that I can't seem to find an answer to on google! (Could be just the keywords i'm using to search!)
Last night I noticed that the time on my phone was wrong (about 8-10 minutes fast)
I restarted the phone and it sorted it out however it has been wrong again for a lot of today.

So my question is how does the phone get the time when it's set to automatically?
Is it from the network? As in this isn't a problem with my phone but a problem with the network settings?
Or is there an alternative way?

I hope this all makes sense!

I can't post the link at the moment as I'm on the mobile app but have a look for a thread called "Android Clock is 10 mins fast" as there are a few others having this issue.

It seems to have sorted itself out over the weekend anyway!

Well I haven't checked the other thread yet today but my phone hasn't experienced this problem since I posted my original message!
