Help Time/weather display

Big Swede

Newbie
This is probably a dumb newb question, but when I got my Tab 2 it showed the time and weather on the home page...for whatever reason that went away and I have looked all over trying to get it back and cannot find it. Any guidance appreciated.

On the plus side I know my Tab 2 better now...

OK I figured it had to be something simple, but another dumb question: Is there a difference between a widget and an app? Is there a listing of or management location for widgets, because I haven't stumbled across one.

Long press on a blank area of any home screen, but not along either side as that will cause the pages to flip.

or when you open the app area, on the top it should have an area for widgets, as well. just click the word widgets either on the long press like jwither said or on the top where the apps are, and a listing of widgets will pop up. :)

No, I would say app icons fit that profile. Widgets are anything that serve a function on the home screen... They all do something. Yours tells time and weather. There are ones that scroll through Facebook without opening Facebook, others that show news headlines and many more. Play around with them, it's fun :-)

You're right, I should experiment with them. I don't even have a smart phone so this is all new to me. Thanks again.

OK, I have another question about the time/weather widget. The time is wrong! It is an hour ahead and I cannot find any way to change it. The clock on the tablet is right, and even the little clock on the widget that records the last time it updated the weather is correct. But the big clock is wrong. I can't blame it on daylight savings time, because it is still ahead even after the change.

Yes. All the other clocks associated with the device are correct, just the big one displayed by the widget is wrong. And the widget settings doesn't seem to allow for adjusting the time display.

Are you sure it is set to the correct city? I think the widget alters its time to match the city it is displaying.

Yep, correct city, correct time zone, I can't find anything wrong, it still is an hour ahead.

Just saw the same thing on my own Tab, so I tapped on the widget, hit the circular icon in the upper right corner of the Weather page to reload the data. It then showed the correct time.

I had the same problem but seemed to have cured it. I went into settings - date and time and selected London, Dublin which showed GMT+1.00 which is right as the UK is now summertime. However I then noted the actual device showed the time as GMT+2.00! I then manually set the tablet to the correct time. I then found both the device and the weather widget were showing the correct time.
