Time Without Signal?

Has anyone run into this, like with the other Android phones out there? Does toggling the airplane really fix this?
 
This is not unique to Android. Searching for signal kills cell phone batteries faster than pretty much anything else. If you plan on being out in the middle of nowhere for a few hours on a trip or something, airplane mode turns off all the wireless radios and keeps battery from draining needlessly.
