Root Ting (Carrier)

Sprint CTMod 3.75 is working great on my ting marquee so i'm happy here too.
leroydroid, that's great CTMOD 3.75 works, I plan on installing it in a week. I have Linux and Mac computer will that make a difference(my Marquee has the stock ZV9)? So there is no issue with it "freezing after 40 hours"?

the thread, http://androidforums.com/marquee-al...sprint-boost-ctmod-3-75-final-11-18-12-a.html another Ting user sent the software author Bloodawn some info about the Ting software installed on our LG Marquee's. Maybe Bloodawn can address any incompatibility issues.

Also if anyone is looking to Root only (no custom rom)
here you go, How to Root the LG Marquee (LS855) running the ZVC update on Sprint - TheUnlockrTheUnlockr

And if any one want's ALL the Ting coupon codes here you go!
Save with ting coupons from RetailMeNot
I went with the $75 statement credit, caching! :)

I'm in a giving mood today.......

I'm happy here...we just picked up a Marquee referb to go with ting. Also have two other marquees we use with our SERO plans.

Forgot to apply the $50 credit, sent Ting an email and had the credit applied in minutes - unreal! Love to company's attitude toward hacking, etc...

Went this route to use the Airave we already have, will root and apply the Sprint CTmod shortly thereafter...

Awesome. Nice to see some new people in here. Bloodawn says that you guys are basically running the same ROM as Sprint users so this is definitely the place to be. After reading that some of the Ting users were having problems with their phones and some of the ROMs here, I mistakenly guessed that your ROMs may have been different than the Sprint/Boost phones. I guessed wrong. LOL. :o

Welcome to the Marquee section. Also, thanks for sharing the Ting info. Looks pretty good. I looked at their coverage map and it isn't bad at all. I have a feeling that we'll be seeing quite a few more Ting users in this section in the coming months. :D

No problems with the 40 hour freeze. I think it's probably a governor issue. I keep mine on lagfree/deadline and have gotten very good battery life as well.

Have you tried out the zram yet? Those are the exact I/O and gov settings I run. When I activated the zram I saw a jump in performance.

I'm watching ting for their byod status. If they get that worked out soon, I'll consider jumping. But as time goes by, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with cdma in general. 4G/LTE looks like it's carrier specific and breaks things even further. A nexus 4 with a tmo sim is looking really attractive right now...

It will always be carrier specific, whether CDMA or GSM, everywhere in the world because of spectrum fragmentation

Just finished customizing a CTMod install on my mom's new LG Marquee (Boost Mobile exterior, Sprint software) on Ting. It took a bit to get the firmware downgraded/root applied, but beyond that things were smooth sailing.

CTMod is a night and day difference vs. the standard LG software...highly recommend it. Since it's based on the stock firmware (more or less), everything works...just quite a bit faster. Sure, it isn't ICS, but for around $95 including tax I can forgive the phone for not running the newer OS.

Would I give up my Galaxy SIII for the Marquee? In most circumstances, no. But for the three members of my immediate family who don't mind toting smartphones but also didn't mind using the LG Optimus V, this is a great replacement.
Did you use this link to root the phone?: http://androidforums.com/marquee-al...-your-updated-lg-marquee-phone-step-step.html

When I rooted my Marquee I used this guide:
How to Root the LG Marquee (LS855) running the ZVC update on Sprint - TheUnlockrTheUnlockr
The basic steps I needed was to downgrade to the ZV9 original rom and then run the root. I used the KDZ updater to downgrade to ZV9 rom then ran the root. Mine was fairly straightforward. I hope your root works out for you.

**I am not responsible for any problems!

Ran into odd issue where the LG_Marquee.zip file wouldn't download successfully via chrome (corrupted file) but worked fine with IE. Nothing like THAT to confuse a newbie. Ran the CTMod 3.7.5 and my refurb now runs SO MUCH faster. Hoping this happiness lasts!

I just started TING and so far so good. They do have an app on google play store. This app allows you to monitor your current data usage.
I've been waiting for a carrier like this for a long time.
I had an lg optimus for about a year and used the WIFI. When I found out about TING, I tried it but the phone i had was corrupted and actually flashed to boost. the esn number on the phone didnt match the label. the dude i bought it from wasnt any help. well at least i didnt waste too much of my recycling money.
Anyway, I happened to come accross another phone like it and it was clean. no contract, still under sprint etc...not corrupted. Ting reopened my account and in 5 minutes I had mobile service without having to go to a wifi spot.

So, to anyone wanting to try TING, make sure that if you are BYOD'ing (bringing your own device) ensure it is one that TING is accepting and there are a lot of deals for phones over the internet, ebay, your own nieghborhood etc..

Now all I want is a TING T-shirt or coffee mug. AND a real job so I can get off the streets. the phone service will help im sure.
