Small tip: if you want something to take complete control of your phone, grab ES File Explorer for free on the Market.
Enable root and write mode by going to Menu > Settings and checking Root Explorer and Mount File System. You can then uninstall system apps very easily by going to Menu > Manager > App Manager and choosing System Apps from Category.
Enjoy! If you see it there, it's almost definitely safe to remove. Just don't ditch Talk, even if you don't use it. That causes problems. And don't remove Settings or Camera, either.
