7. if you are on a weak signal area turn on your wi-fi.

I kind of disagree with this as when you are in a poor signal area, the phone is constantly searching for a better signal, which uses up battery power but turning on the Wi-Fi as well would increase the battery consumption, no?

in a way yes. just like any smartphone i guess when it is trying to search or scan for a stronger signal (a 3G or wi-fi) the phone uses much battery.

You can switch it back to 3G when you need to browse the web or anything else.
For background sync, 2G is good enough.

I read an article by a software engineer, explaining the memory usage principle in Android that makes task-killers unnecessary.
So i disabled Advanced Task Killer - and BOOM - my battery-life was increased tremendously. (havent noted any increased sluggishness.)

Is there an easy way to switch from 2G to 3G and back?

Yes and no, there are only apps/widgets that are a shortcut to the android native setting for this.
Typically, these apps will allow you to perform this action in 2 click instead of 4 clicks.
You can try for example:
2G-3G OnOff v2.2.0 Application for Android | Tools
