Root titanium and restoring my apps and data

ok, so I just flashed a 2.2 ROM

this is my first time doing a restore with titanium backup

my questions are:

how do I make sure that I don't restore system apps that are older than the 2.2 apps?

what batch should I run? should I be selective within a given batch?

I feel sort of overwhelmed here. :o

exclude all the apps that have 2.1 or htc or google references, thats what i did and the only thing i had to redownload was google search

How recent is your titanium backup. Probably should have done it pretty recent. If you backup with some older apps, I bet the worst thing that might happen is they reinstall updates when you are done, but not absolutely sure.

so did a thirdway to 8.26 leak update yesterday, used titanium to restore my apps and settings.

I chose "Restore missing apps + all system data".

My apps were back, but my homescreens didn't.

So i ran a nandroid backup, and noticed that my Theme was unsaved. Could that be the cause?

So I just backed up my apps + data with Titanium, because I plan on flashing a new ROM. After this is done, do I want to run Restore all apps with data, or Restore missing apps with data? And how does Titanium know which restoration to use if you have multiple backups, does it take the most recent one? Also, does it backup this stuff to your SD card I'm guessing?
