Root Titanium Backup question

I've flashed several ROMs and have used TB every time. I typically have no problems. My question is this: when you guys backup your stuff, do you select the 'apps' backup or do you backup 'apps plus data'. The reason I ask is simple...when switching to a new ROM, if you've backed up your apps and the data on that particular ROM you're using and switch to another ROM, won't the data on your backup potentially interfere with the new ROM? Sorry if that sounded convoluted, but that's the best way I could put it.

So, is backing up your apps the best way to do it?

Yes, restoring apps + data can cause conflicts when switching between ROM's. When you restore your apps, do apps only. There's an option in TB named "Migrate System Data" (considered experimental) that restores data between incompatible ROM's (ie: Sense to AOSP). I've heard of people using this function w/o issue over at XDA.

I alwys do apps+data, just not system apps. That way all my game data is restored, I've never had problems

That's what I thought. If you are going from one ROM to another you don't want to transfer that ROMs specific data to the new ROM. I have just been backing up my apps and that's it.
