Titanium backup question

Hey guys, quick TB question...

Running AOSP 2.2, when i want to move an app to the sd card, I have always done menu>settings>applications>Manage apps>move to sd, however I am finding so many of my apps do not allow it to be moved to the sd. I do not currently use TB, but if I do, will it allow me to move any app thats not part of the rom to the sd card, or will I be limited the same way as I am now by using the Manage Applications option? I keep getting the low on space notification so I want to free up some space.

Cheers!

Titanium Backup does not really facilitate moving apps to the microSD card in the sense you are thinking of. You CAN backup apps and they get saved to the microSD card, but they are not moved there in such a way that you can still use them as if they were in your handset's internal memory.

If you want to move more apps to the microSD card, you would have to partition your microSD card and use Apps2SD. Personally, I just skip that and try to use the native Android 2.2+ moving of apps to the microSD card as much as I can.

so basically if it wont let me move the app in the native 2.2, its not gonna move?

In a nutshell, yes, that is correct. Unless you do the partitioning of your microSD card and make use of the Apps2SD app, you are pretty much stuck with whatever apps the developers have enabled native moving to the microSD card functionality on.

Doing the partitioning of you microSD card also wipes it I believe. Just figured I would let you know should you take the plunge.

yea i learned the hard way haha. everything is backed up to the pc. what exactly does partitioning the sd allow me to do? does the phone then recognize it as internal storage?

Yeah. That is exactly how it works.

The partition is basically extended internal space to the handset. That is a good way to put it.

cool ive got a few hours of down time tonight, ill make sure everything is backed up and give it a go.
Is there a specific method I should use to partition the card for the hero or if I just do a search on here, anything should work?

I actually have never partitioned my microSD card. I found this video on how to do it, but it is rather old.

Do this at your own risk. At the very least, backup your entire microSD card to your computer first. The paid version of ROM Manager will do this for you automatically. It might be worth the money if you are serious about using Apps2SD.
