Root Titanium Backup Restore HELP!!!

Hi Everybody,

I backed up all my apps with Titanium Backup (free version) and put my phone back to factory settings. Now, once I installed Titanium Backup again and wanted to restore my apps, most of them (the important ones) are shown in gray color and strike through, tho a check mark was made that they are backed up. I cannot restore these apps. Is there something I am doing wrong ?

Ace was and is Rooted !!!

Help asap. Thx.

They show up like that (gray with a line) but you should still be able to tap them and select 'Restore'. Have you tried that?

If that doesn't work, I would just use a File Manager and browser to the \sdcard\Titanium folder and install everything back manually.

Hi Mitch,

It doesnt work. In TB the option to restore is not showing on the gray apps. In the folder I can't open "nested" files, what would that mean. So far I could restore chess :(

Is it possible that it didn't really backup the apps and just their data ? :(

Since the apps show up on the screen and are gray, that usually indicates that the app is not installed but the backup is there somewhere.

You should be able to go to \sdcard\TitaniumBackup using a File Manager to see if the backups are there and even reinstall them. You can also attach the device to your PC and browse the SD card to check. If you don't see stuff related to your backed up apps in that TitaniumBackup folder, you don't have anything backed up. All backups are stored in that folder.

Sorry, not sure about the "nested" issue. Never heard of that.

Ok, so here is what i found out so far. I did find the Titaniumbackup folder and the backups are there. There are two folders for each app, one that I can open and install and one that I can't open. Once I installed the app manually, it appears correctly in TB also and then I can backup the data. Kind of weird, I was hoping not having to install all apps manually, still, its good that I can restore all data.

If you have any other help, please let me know.

Thanks alot.

Installing apps using TB is just as much a chore as it is installing them manually. The only bonus it holds is that it saves data and rom stuff.

I found it to be a pain in the arse if I'm honest.

Have you sorted your grey matter out yet?

No I have not. I gave up. I kept titanium install files for the apps i wanted to restore the data from (since if i install them directly from the market, titanium backup won't restore any data) and deleted the rest. I was thinking of adding a custom boot manager to make an image of my sistem as it is now but i don't want to screw to deeply with my phone.
