I have titanium insalled but I'm not sure what I should be doing with it?

Has anyone posted instructions on how best to use it?

Thanks

That is most green-colored items. This will be bookmarks, call log, calendar, launcher, WiFi, etc.

I have quite a few green items on my list. I'm worried I'll backup something I shouldn't and mess up my new rom. Could someone tell me .. it this right:

Accounts - no idea which accounts it means - theres a titanium logo next to it which doesn't help.
Application Widgets - as above
Bluetooth Pairings - Backup
Bookmarks Browser 2.3.7. I use bookmarkssb to back so I don't need this.
Calendar - It's on google so I'm not planning on backing this up.
Contacts - all on google so I'll forget this.
Desktop Launcher 2.3.7 - Backup
SMS 2.3.7 - Backup
Wallpapers 2.3.7- Backup
Settings/Blue 2.3.7 - Backup
Wi-Fi Access pint - Backup

My main concern is the verison numbers. I'm planning on trying Teppics Gingerbread ROM next. This is a different version on Android.. with the 2.3.7 backups work. If not there seems little point in making them. Most of the user data I want is on google.. calendar & contacts. I'll take a nandroid before flashing so if needed I can reload mildwild.

If I'm right then Titanium isn't really that useful for my purposes.

Thanks

When you restore on a new rom, restore "missing apps with data" - Then go down the list and exclude anything that was from your rom so it only includes market downloads.

Then you should be safe. You can never back up too much, only restore too much.

Its best to use other apps for SMS, Contacts, Calendar (for those that do not use google).

I use google but then sms backup+ for sms.

Thanks.. is there any way to backup my email settings...are these the mysterious account settings or are they elsewhere?

It's best not to if you use gmail as push sync starts to freak out after a,restore. If you use another email client, these settings should be backed up with the app as standard

I had titanium media sync but its not quite what I am looking for. It backups up fine, but if I delete something on my SD card, it deletes it from the sync location....

Have you tried rsync? You can get the binary for Android, and that may be controllable by tasker (or cron, but tasker gives you connection events) but there is an Android wrapper for it that gives you profiles that are tasker callable. I don't know what/how the wrapper exposes all the options, but you have to explicitly tell rsync to delete files on the destination dir, so it shouldn't do that by default (see man rsync).

I've not tried it yet, but it's on my list of things to do.

That sounds interesting. I actually use rsync+cron to backup my home directory to NAS anyway....

hi
titanium pro is a must for rom'ers - it works awesomely - but i do find the UI a bit confusing i must admit
as SU says, i use another app for sms backup (actually called that i think)
i use EE email app and that backs up nice with Titanium - obviously it then has to re-synch the emails from the server

cheers
