Root [TMobile] Xperion rom

Well-Known Member
Has anyone tried the xperion rom. I seen another guy ask but wanted some more opinions or thoughts if it would work on the T-Mobile variant??

The Freedom Kernel has to be ported to T-Mobile before porting over the xperion rom.

I say we get our T-Mobile developers together and make a rom to compete with the Metro PCS guys! (kidding)

I might try to port over the kernel and the rom, but I'm not too motivated yet.

Well actually, the kernel isn't installed on the rom, it's still an option for you to flash ;)
He did answer someone who asked about flashing it on the t-mobile
I don't know if this will work for t-mobile f6 without any bugs or bootloop. If you decide to try it let me know. If it works I'll post up a thread for it on the t-mobile section.

Yeah. I seen that, but im so anxious to test it, but i thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the pc and laptop and get tablets instead.... silly me :'(

I'll slap it on my phone in a couple hours after I'm done using it (waiting for a work call)

I've gotten my phone stuck into one too many boot loops, but have been able to undo them through long pain in the asses.

Anyway, I might try and port over the kernel anyway.

You should download the kernel source from LG and compile it with whatever changes you decide rather than to port my kernel or rom. It's not difficult.

There's a good chance my kernel will work for t-mobile, but someone has to grow some canoles lol and flash it. Someone already did and said it worked, but not the overclock. They probably tried oc while connected to usb or power which would prevent oc from working due to safety feature to allow proper battery charge.

Oh and it's very simple to recover from bootloop. As long as you make a backup in recovery you just do button combo to get into recovery and do an "advanced" restore and select "boot" and it will restore the stock kernel from the backup.

I'll post a thread for my kernel here, but someone needs to try it first.

I've recovered from a boot-loop plenty of times on my device.

I'll slap it onto my D500 tonight and see what goes! Along with the Xperion, and then do a testing of everything to see what might be an issue, etc.

Would you mind if I made a derivative of your ROM for the D500 (T-Mobile)?

Yes I do mind. You can do a system dump of your device and modify your apks however you wish to make your own rom.

Flashing my xperion rom might cause some issues as per the kernel I think it should work fine, but I cant say for sure.

If you guys get me a system dump then I'll try to make a rom for you. Before doing the system dump you must be on the latest 10h firmware completely stock (root is ok). Also you cannot be debloated, I need everything.

Run the following commands in terminal hitting the enter key after each line...

Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system of=/storage/external_SD/system.img

This will dump a system.img on your external SD card. Once you have it post a link here so I can download it. I recommend using google drive to host the link (uploads and downloads are fast).

Note:
There is a month left for the kitkat update so if this is not done within the next week then I'm not gonna bother and waste time.

Hello,

Noob here. Just got a Tmobile optimus F6 the other day and I was able to put the Xperion ROM on it. Seems fine so far. I don't know about the overclocking or where it even is. I did notice the CRT animation doesn't always work. It's still pretty awesome though. Thanks Gametheory.

Yeah CRT is finicky on all the optimus f series phones, seems to work when the phone is idle not plugged in to usb or power.

Couple questions...

When you pull down the notification bar, does it say "Metro PCS" or "T-mobile" at the bottom?

Are you able to make and recieve calls and texts with no issue?

It says t-mobile and yeah I was able to call and text just fine.

Great thanks for testing it out. I'll go ahead and start an Xperion thread here in the t-mobile forum and maintain it with future updates. I'll be doing an update soon.
