To keep TB or not?

14 days is too short to get a good perspective if the device is good or not, due to the main issue: the new 4g tech. Folks having issues and doubts would be best to return the TB and wait for the network and bugs to be settled.

If having no problems, no harm, no foul :)

Welzie, when will you realize even if you have valid points (which you do) you can never complain about or even scrutinize in the smallest way a new device. There will always be people who either love it soooooo much or are total kool aid drinkers that you will be torn apart.

I returned my TB because of the joke of a battery and some build quality issues. I work in the cellular industry and I have changed phones in the last 5 years like most people change underwear.

I tried all the usual tricks to prolong battery life and it still failed miserably. I really wanted to love this phone but it was a no go. I will have to wait and see what other Android powerhouses are coming out.

My point is I feel your (or your wife's) frustration and it is a shame that people cannot discuss the pros and the CONS of a device without some people making snide remarks or acting like you committed treason.

Fanboys worship their objects for which there is zero reciprocation back ;)

People that only tout the pros and ignore the cons, only play into the carrier's hands. To businesses, complacency is good for business ;)

I kind of agree, some of the newer Fanboys make me want to puke!

Funny story:

I get home yesterday evening after my son's soccer practice and just started some idle chit-chat with the wife, when I proceeded to tell her that I am not real happy or impressed with my TB. I tell her all of the shortcomings that I feel it presents and then tell her I am taking it back.

Now my wife was really the motivator in getting the TB. She would get online every day just to see when it was coming out, and she would talk about it almost every day about how she was getting that phone.

After I told her about my issues and how the phone was not worth what we had paid for it. She dropped the bomb. She had a huge laundry list of things she did not like about the phone, and things that did not work properly that were must haves for her. I never thought I would here her blast the TB like she did. I just started laughing.

Long story short. We are both taking back our TB's this evening. Not sure what we'll get or if we will just re-activate our old phones until something else comes out.

Both of our biggest complaints about the phones is the poor GPS and the even poorer (is that a word) battery life. I thought the battery would get better, but it really didn't. I get to work and by noon or 1 I am putting it on charge again.

Sucks seeing so many bad stories, when mine has been nothing but a fairytale.

I complained at first, then things got better. Sorry to all of you where things haven't gotten better.

Verizon's gonna make a nice bundle from your guys's $35 test run

I seriously doubt they charge me a restocking fee. I have 4 phones with them that are all out of contract. I can easily go elsewhere if they insist on charging me. Money really does talk in situations like these.

Kind of reminds you of how the iPhone people react to negativity.

Agreed! As I said this is with any device.

I am rocking the VZW iPhone right now for build quality call quality and reception as well as battery life. As soon as a new and decent Android phone comes out I am going to be all over it!

The Thunderbolt was awesome but in my OPINION there are too many faults that out weigh the positives RIGHT NOW.

I am on my girlfriend's account she has been with them since they were Bell. We also have her mother and another family member on. I am actually on it but on a sub individual account.
Long story short they charged me $35. I am going to try and get it dropped.

look at the beanbag on you! i was told when i bought it, i have 14 days and $35 restocking fee if i chose to return. thats fine with me. i'm not a guy who wears a pair of jeans for 1 night and return them the next day. thats kinda shameless.

you know the penalty, why try and leverage yourself out of it?!

Just as an update for everyone:

I called VZW 5 minutes ago and spoke with a CSR. I read to her the list of items with the TB that my wife and I are having trouble with and then told her that the phones are not functional for our needs. She agreed.

I then asked her if I was going to have to pay a $70 restocking fee (2 phones) if I take them back today and get something different. She said yes.

I then asked her that when I return the phones and cancel the new 2 year agreement when entered into, will I be out of contract? I knew the answer was yes of course.

Her reply was, "Are you saying that if you get charged a restocking fee that you will leave for another carrier?" and I replied,"Absolutely."

She waived my restocking fee.

I still contend that VZW has the best customer service out of about any other company out there. That is why I have been with them for many, many years.

EDIT: Just to clarify. I was never told about the $35 restocking fee and was not made aware of it until I read it on here.

Question: What the hell does, "Look at the beanbag on you." mean??? Must be a regional comment as I can't recall ever hearing that before.

wow, youre sick nasty. threatening to leave Big Red over a charge that YOU KNEW you were going to be penalized for.

well now that thats over with, kudos! i'm gonna try the complaining about the battery trick to see if i can get some swag or something. :P

Read my above edit. As I was not aware of the RF. I did complain extensively about the battery and was not offered any extended battery. I would have declined since I feel the phone is plenty big and heavy enough stock.

meh...

are you going back to D1?

My wife had the D1 and I had the Eris. Have not decided which avenue we want to take. We may get different phones such as the DX. I really have grown accustomed to the large screen.

Lucidot, once you've returned the bolt are you going to stop crying about it all over this forum? We get it. You don't like the phone. Most people here like it, so maybe it's not for you? At any rate, whiny complaints won't fix your problems. Seriously, check your posts, they are obsessed with trashing the phone.
