hey guys! just wondering the Pros and Cons of root.

what are some reasons to root, and some reasons why i would not want to? thanks guys!

cons:
-root will void your warranty.
-time consuming

pros:
-total freedom of what is installed and what isn't on your phone
-custom roms
-overclocking or underclocking
-apps that can only be installed with root
-ability to customize every aspect of the OS and UI
-advantage of getting OS updates sooner than the rest (like Froyo!)

good luck if you try.I try everyday for a couple hours, still nothing. Not sure why a card makes a difference,in the 10 min video he didn't say anything about a special card or even what he was using. He didn't have to do the card trick or anything. So who really knows, all seems to come down to luck.

Imo alot of people are having problems mostly due to the drivers. They may need to be uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times to work correctly. Also timing plays a part in getting it done, everyones pc runs at different speeds due to the software they have loaded in the background. You just have to give it a go and see if you can do it. Just try an hour a day while watching tv and you may just get lucky.

hmm thanks guys, very helpful. i guess ill wait a little longer till more of the kinks are worked out.
thanks again!

Do this. Download and install the unrevoked2 recovery tool and follow the instructions on installing the driver on your pc. Once the driver is installed then proceed with rooting, i'm guessing it will go much easier this way and should allow those who've been unsuccessfull thus far to get rooted.
