Root To root or not to root.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of rooting my phone. I have a HTC Wildfire and want to root it but I am not sure.

Putting it simply, rooting your phone gives you root access. This basically means you will be able to do even more with your handset than you could previously.

You can also take advantage of apps which only work with rooted phones and even look at flashing a custom ROM.
 
Rooting Voids your warranty

you can also use rooted apps but too be honest there not many good ones and with Froyo out which cant be rooted properly yet there no point installing custom rom is best if you want to say overclock your device or just kep it simple and install stock ROM :-)
