To root or not to root?

Greetings! I've been lurking here for some time with some interest in rooting my Boost Galaxy S2. But, I've been debating with myself whether or not I should actually do so after reading the current guide when seems a bit confusing to say the last so I need some clarity. First, I have a couple questions...

1) If I decide to pull the trigger and root, I should mention that I updated to FL24. What additional files would I need in addition to the guide? It should be updated for FL24. BUT! If there's an easier way to quickly root the device, I'm all ears!

2) (Big question!) Instead of rooting now, should I wait to see if the Jellybean update comes out soon then update to it, then root it?

3) If I do decide to root then the Jellybean update comes out, can I update and maintain root or would I need to revert back to stock? How exactly does updating a rooted device work?

4) Where I can find the stock files for the latest Boost S2 update(s), just in case I need them?

Now I have no desire to run custom ROMs or anything like that - I want it as close to stock as possible with only root access. My main reasoning for rooting is to use AdFree on 3G and Wi-Fi.

Thanks!

The Root method in the guide will work for FL24.

You can Root now or wait. You can always flash back to stock whenever the OTA push of Jelly Bean comes out.

You have to unroot the device to do an OTA update.

Check the one stop shop post at the top of the forum.

Using those same files linked will work even though they look kinda outdated? Also, I should mention I currently don't have a SD card, can I flash superuser from the phone's memory itself? Thanks!

Also, got any links to the latest stock files so I can keep em handy?

Yes the Root method works. Yes, you can flash the super user from the internal sd (phone's built in storage). I did it that way when i first got the phone. Again check the one Stop Shop post. It is quite big and divided into sections with lots of links including links to stock ROM files.

I as always an always, always leary when it comes to rooting. Not to cause alarm but rooting can be tricky with some phones as its the case with the htc evo design. I am a somewhat experienced root person, but from what I've read the design I would have a harder time understanding how to root it. As for this phone it's fairly simplistic in nature with all the one click methods, it's as simple as point the mouse and click, with the usb cord plugged in of corse.
You can always flash back to stock FI22 from boost if all else fails.
I was real leary, so I kinda practiced flashing a rom, then back to stock. After a couple of times I became more secure with flashing, and am happily on GA10 now.
I've used numerous roms, from cm versions, to akop, to other modified roms just to play with them. I finally landed on GA10 for now, but it's very easy to switch roms out.
Most roms have the kernel and modem built in so they are getting so much easier to flash stuff these days, and it's very hard to really mess up things.

Coming from the HTC, not to offend but the guide there made things more technical and harder than it actually is. I think what most people have problems with is editing the file to fit the version of the phone and re zip it correctly.
The guide here rocks, it breaks it down to where even I can understand lol and everything is right there just click and you got what you need.
This community makes it safe because of all the people that really want to help here and I thank you all.
