Help Toggle Wi-Fi off when out of range

As the title suggests. I usually forget to turn the wifi off, so when I'm outside, it keeps searching for a network, which means it wastes battery. Is there a way to set the wifi to turn automatically off if there are no available network to connect to after a few attempts?

I don't need it to turn back on when I'm home again, I can do that manually.

Thanks.

i use tasker to do it and it works like a charm have it setup to turn off wifi when i leave the cell tower range and turn it back on when i enter the range again. You can do a lot more with tasker though but its a little expensive and has a very steep learning curve.

Get a couple NFC tags. Put them by the door or in your car. Tag the "out" when you're heading out. Tag the "in" when you're coming back. You can also carry them with you, but that's more work than toggling.

Tasker, Llama, half a dozen other programs can do that for you. Personally though I haven't noted any significant difference in battery life whether I leave Wifi on or off.

I too use tasker to do the same thing, plus so much more...like turn down volume when i'm at work, turn up when I'm at home during day time and low at night, turn off data/wifi when i'm playing certain games, turn on GPS when i use map...just to name a few.

Well, more than that, it's also a bother to see a notification that asks you to connect to a network or "Open wifi network found". I do have tasker, I'll try it now.

There should be a recipe already made for it mate
How do u make it know when youve left home.. Does it get triggered when youre out of range of your own wifi?

Is there an already made one? Where can I get it? I'm pretty new to Tasker, never used it much, although I got it months ago.

I think you can turn off the "wifi available" notification if you want, that way you can just leave it on & you won't see that pesky wifi symbol with the question mark pop up every time you get within range of a wifi signal...
