Too buggy to buy?

Mine rebooted once in the week I have had it. I think it was just after I installed launcher Pro. Anyway it has been fine since then and Launcher Pro has been flawless. LP makes this phone smooth as silk and if you get the paid version the calander, FB, YT and other widgets are really nice. I am very glad I picked this up. I was waiting for the TB but I decided I don't want to be a test pilot for verizon and their first 4g phone. I will pick one up in a year or two when 4g is all settled, up and running in more than just a few markets and the price of the TB is what I paid for my X ...$50.

I had every intention of rooting since I came from a rooted OG droid but I am still waiting for to figure out if I need to. With the droid I needed to over clock but this phone is fast and smooth as is. The battery life is excellent on this phone as well.

There have been couple of times when I had to jump start the 3 g service or restart the phone but I had the same problem with the droid which leads me to believe it may just be the 3g service.

I'm running Zeam as my launcher. Also runs very well. I'm also right at the one week of ownership point. Three reboots so far. I'm undecided about returning it.

Zeam is no longer under development and is no longer supported. Any changes made to the X OS will not be supported or changed in Zeam. I would look for another launcher.

i'm 10 days into my CPO Droid X and have not had a single reboot, knock on wood. i'm not running any launchers, i really dont see any problem with moto blur, it actually seems smooth with no lag. i'm coming from a samsung fascinate which needed launcher pro to run over the touch wiz, loved the phone but i'm just as happy if not more with the DX.

Or they won't tell about problems to make their choice of phones look good....

I get a "soft reset" (from red eye on) only if I hook up the USB to charge. Has only occurred since the last update. Not a big problem really.

Other than that no real bugs to speak of.

Can't guarantee this will fix the problem, but...I had the same issue and after a lot of searching around found out that it was due to an app being installed on the SD card, (Heads up to EuroSteve as well on this). If you make sure your apps are installed on the phone itself, and not the sdcard, it might fix that for you. Particularly if you have Angry Birds, for some reason that goes straight to the card.

To check/move the apps, go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All then check each program under "Storage", if it says SD Card, move it to the phone. This fixed the reboot upon plugging into USB problem for me, hasn't happened since.

I have no apps on the SD card. Maybe I should let go of the Zeam launcher. Any problems with Launcher Pro?

I'm running Launcher Pro, and the only problem I've had with it had to do with the Contacts Widget, for some reason it kept doing this weird resizing thing with it where I'd have to go in and make the widget 2x2 then shrink it back down to 1x1 to get the label back and the photo resized properly. I got around it by using a Tasker script for the same function. On the plus side, I love being able to set my screen to 5 rows instead of 4, and the 15 icons on the "dock" bar rock. I also have widget locker installed, a lot of the time I pull my phone out I'm doing it to look at the time, or see the weather (weather bug elite, or to check my battery, having those on the lock screen saves a few seconds, and with the "wake with home button push" it's a bit easier than hitting the power button on top.

Update: Running the stock launcher and no reboots (that I'm aware of) since 3/10 - around 5 days. So it seems unlikely that I have a bad phone. Seems more likely that whatever reboots I experience are due to software problems. I haven't tried connecting to USB in mass storage mode - from what I've read and experienced, there may be some sort of problem when doing this and I would not be surprised if it rebooted.

I'm going to leave it alone a week or so before adding software or a new launcher.

Update: 3/16 - still no re-boots!

Early March, bought a CPO Droid X with one year contract - opened box and signed on. First night was awakened all night as phone rebooted every 2 mins. Next day, better, third day every 2 mins even when on a call - POS!!!!! Went to store and spent an hour with the tech who had the phone in the back to "fix" it. Worked for an hour, then every two mins - called Verizon and spent an hour on the phone with tech support to no avail.
Fourth day went postal in the store as the sales ape said "it is a complicated device and this happens - software" Went REALLY postal and got the manager to order a replacement CPO for free for delivery next day.
Got the new DX and haven't had ONE reboot. No task killer or rooting but a few apps - current up time 162:47:19.
Moral - get a new CPO unit if you can if your having reboots!

If you get DX ESN#A00000229B76B0 RETURN IT ASAP!

Is there a place we can register bad ESN#'s???

Update 3/29 - still no reboots. I've added several new apps with no problems. So I'm convinced that the phone is fine and that any reboots were due to software conflicts. I've also made sure that I have no apps on the SD card. Sometime soon I'll add a new launcher to mix and see what that does to the stability of the phone.

Anyone want to recommend a stable launcher?

Go launcher ex. It is IMO the smoothest and most stable launcher out there. Not to mention there are some really nice themes in the market for it.

It has all the customizations as launcher pro and adw but is by far the smoothest of any launcher.

Also when I first got my phone I had a few reboots, then it went away. Also once you get into it and eventually get the bug to root and rom you will find our devs have eliminated any probs that existed in the original build. I have run every rom, and am now on gingerbread and I think I have had about 1 reboot in 6 months.
