Root [TOOL][ALPHA] ZTE Max Unbrick Tool [NEED TESTERS!!!]

when ever I install a rom my phone keeps going back to the recovery I cannot get out of recovery help please

Did you flash anything besides a rom before the problem started? If so, please post a link to it. If not, please describe what you did right before this problem started.

I have port a rom to the boost max everything on the ROM was working fine then I was trying to port another rom to the boost max when I try to install it it wasn't working but if I do a factory reset a couple of times then it will install the second rom I ported I did that a couple of times and then the phone would not get out of recovery

Use your favorite burning software to burn the iso image to cd. I like ImgBurn for windows because it is free, easy, and effective. Once the cd is burned, put it in your pc and reboot. Enter into your pc bios and change the boot order to making the cd drive the first to boot. Normally to get into pc bios, you need to press one of the following: del, f2, f10, or f12. It depends on the pc but it is normally right after the pc starts and it will say on the screen which one to press.

Once you get it booted on your pc, put your device in DFU mode (hold both volume buttons along with power). Plug in your device, click the green android icon on the desktop, press ok or enter on the password prompt, type "stormer" which is the codename for your device (you will see a chart) and press enter. Confirm with "y" then press enter, and wait.

Personally I make bootable usb flash drives instead of cd's. There is a program called Unetbootin that makes the process very easy.

I have not heard of the ZTE 7max, so I would say no. If that is a typo and you really have a Boost Mobile ZTE Max (n9520), then you can use the unbrick tool.

Can you run root adb from ftm? If so, you may be able to get a custom recovery installed. Try by connecting your device to the PC while in ftm mode, open a terminal, and type "adb devices". This will make sure your PC sees your device. Then, type "adb shell". Then type "su". If you get a root shell you can dd a custom recovery and try to flash a new rom or other partitions you may have messed up.

Do you have (or would it be too difficult to develop) a similar unbrick tool for the samsung mega 6.3 sgh-i527?

My phone was previously rooted (can't remember if I used mobogenie or Kingoroot). I un-rooted using superuser in an attempt to get the update to 4.4. when I tried to boot in recovery mode it says "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest ATT store for help" and "Secure Fail: KERNEL". It can be put in download mode. I've tried using odin to go back to the stock rom but get a "fail" everytime (with the pit file and without) and the message "Complete(Write) operation failed". I also tried to push files using fastboot but the computer doesn't recognize my device when I type "adb devices" -- nothing comes up. I also tried Kies but it just keeps saying "connecting" but never does.

Ultimately what I am trying to achieve is #1 unbrick the phone (of course) and #2 to end up with at least 4.4 (or possibly higher if available).

I am booting this in VirtualBox and unable to grab SU access using the password provided "stormer". When I click the Green Android labled "ZTE Device Unbrick" it asks for a password. I also went into Terminal and tried to manually SU and password fails there too.

I downloaded the ISO directly from this OP and obviously it is the ZTE Device Unbricker ISO. haha. Any thoughts?

From the quoted text above
"press ok or enter on the password prompt".
If I remember correctly, "root" is actually the password but it should be pre-filled so you should not need to type it at all.

Yup I figured that out. I think it originally had it in there but I didn't know.

Ugh I have been at this all day. I can get it to boot in a VM but doesn't find the device (Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM QHSUSB_DLOAD".

When I made a bootable USB (using UNetBootin or another USB Drive maker) it fails to load on my PC.

I can get into Stock Recovery. I have tried reflashing the Stock rom off of the SD card but keep getting a Status 7 error and "E:footer is wrong" "signature verification failed". The current firmware is N9520V1.0.0B06 (which is 4.4.2 I believe). It just hangs on the 4G LTE boot screen. Digging into the script file, it seems this script just resets the partitions. Is that even needed in my case?

It actually mounts your phone as a block device and installs PhilZ in the recovery sectors. This will allow you to boot to PhilZ recovery and do whatever you want. So, I would say yes it is exactly what you need.

The usb bootable may not be booting for several reasons:
  1. your graphics card is too new and not supported by the older OS
  2. your pc is not capable of booting to usb
  3. you are not set to bios mode (not really sure about this one but I have read some things about being able to switch from bios and uefi and it making a difference when booting external media)
I am sure there are others but those would be the most common.

Have you tried bootable optical media such as cd-r or dvd-r?

Yea I saw the recovery ISO image in the VM.

The PC is capable and is set to boot from the USB. It just fails to actually see it as a bootable medium. I might have a disc. Haven't touched a CD in years.

This is just one SOB to get a custom recovery on! Thanks for the replies. I'll figure it out.

Finally got it using a DVD disc to burn the image to. Worked like a champ. Now I have a custom recovery and will flash a stock/rooted rom. Holy crap.

I have bricked my phone. I am unable to get the drivers on to my pc and access the file explorer to get a zip file so I can unbrick or reset my phone. I have been into the recovery and tried to wipe data and cache and factory reset and all that happens is the android just fades into a black screen. I need a way to get a file on to the phone so I can reset and restore it so I can get pass the boot loader. I was using titanium back up and tried to move KIK to a system app. and that's what caused the crash. I do not have philz touch wiz. I'm on 4.1.2. root. I will be on tomorrow to check for comments. thanks in advance for the help folks.
