Root Top 3 Vibrant Roms

I've been running a rooted D1 (original moto droid-->verizon) for awhile now and I've done something I had promised myself I would never do...I recently rooted a coworkers Vibrant.

His main objective was to remove some of the stock bloat, which we were able to do successfully, but I'd like to flash a nice stable ROM on that he won't have significant trouble with...mainly because I'll probably be the one to troubleshoot it.

Anyway, I am very familiar with Cyanogenmod ROM's...especially the Gingerbread iterations and was wondering how stable it is for most. I've got this link which leads me to believe it's still basically in alpha. So, at this time, would you guys recommend going with the aforementioned Team Whiskey - Bionix?

Sorry, this is kinda a rambling post and I always wince when I see the "which ROM is most stable" threads but...there it is...i've done it anyway...Which ROM is most stable and any idea when we can expect a nice stable CM7 for the Vibrant?

I'm a noob and just put CM7 nightly build #56 on my Vibrant. Other than the fact I don't have Wi-Fi Calling, I'm pretty happy. Haven't had any problems yet and my Quadrant score jumped to 1755 from mid 900's stock. GPS is currently working on the most recent nightlies and I'm getting quicker lock now than when I was stock running Samsung official Froyo release.

Now if I can just get Wi-Fi calling back I'll be in heaven! T-Mo is currently offering it free and it DOES NOT count towards package minutes (at least on the plan I have). Folks at Cyanogen who are maintaining the Vibrant builds don't have T-Mo accts, so that feature standard in CM7 probably isn't happening. I'm going to try one of the options listed in this thread.

Hope this helps.

The calling through wifi itself is free, but your minutes are still burned.

Which doesn't make the slightest bit of sense to me at all. If you're on your mobile in your house and leave, (as i've done before) the call will drop since you've lost connection to your wifi. Wifi calls aren't that great on the vibrant in my experience anyway, so the feature to me is pointless.

Maybe if it didnt charge minutes and it WAS free i would probably use it but i'd rather stay on 3G as it is now.

--Disabled the feature--

Just incase someone asks, you can disable the feature by turning on your wifi first, clicking your app drawer, selecting the wifi calling icon, and just slide the switch to off.
It will not let you switch if your wifi isn't on for some reason.

Took me a while to find it so i thought i'd share.

Wi-Fi Calling is now a free feature that doesn't drain package minutes. I've had it since May. You may need to go in-store and have them set it up since it seems that at least a third of the call center customer service reps have no clue. I will be one happy camper if one of the fixes for Wi-Fi Calling listed in this thread give me that feature back on my CM7 flashed Vibrant!

Back on topic of "Top 3 Vibrant Roms" ... CyanogenMod 7 is the only one I've ever used. I like it a lot so far: Gingerbread 2.3.4, 1755 Quadrant score and faster GPS lock than stock fun running stock 2.2.1. Haven't had any force close issues or freezes. I'm running nightly build #56 because GPS isn't working in the CM7 release candidate build.

Biffmod v1.3. Running stock 2.3.5. Very smooth daily driver. Significantly better battery life. Quadrant of 2086 with cpu oc'd to 1200. Highly recommend this one.

I just installed Cyanogenmod 7.1 and impressed by the aesthetics, but am disappointed by the functionality.

The email app cannot move emails to other folders. I have an Exhcange account and want to move emails out of my inbox.

The GPS doesn't work.

Do any of your favorite three ROM's fix both of these issues? I'd be willing to go back to 2.2 if necessary.

I just switched from TeamWhiskey stuff since they have pretty much given up making more roms. Im now running Team Toxic8's rom with VooDoo enabled and the V6 Supercharge thingy ma jig

I still can't get wifi calling to work on my Vibrant running CM7.1

I tried everything I found online, nothing worked.

Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

ICS Euphoria is the best rom i have used by FAR. ICS Passion is in 2nd place but the customization and battery life of Euphoria cant be beat in my opinion. My favorite stock rom is probably froyo but nothing beats Ice Cream Sandwich!

Dear all - I'm very new to this forum as I am searching for way to upgrade my Samsung Vibrant T-Mobile running android 2.1 (Eclair?) to the best and most stable 2.2 (Froyo) available out there. I'm not an IT guy by no mean and would appreciate very much for as much details and instruction as possible where to download, how to install, and so on.

From waht I read, the Vibrant is a excellent phone that just needs better version of Android installed and it will run much faster.

Many thanks in advance...

Justin

The easiest way is to download a program called Kies Mini and update through that program. Its really simple but i prefer to install updates manually but since your new this will be the easiest way for you. Follow the link below and you will be running froyo(2.2) in no time. Here is the link
Support: Software upgrade - Samsung Galaxy S 4G

Ps: i know it says samsung galaxy s 4g but the procedure is exactly the same. I have successfully upgraded using this method with my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant so everything works fine
