So after extensive research, I decided to buy a nook color and root it to run Android. I'm thinking I want to run Gingerbread or Froyo, NOT Honeycomb at the moment. I consider myself a fairly tech-savvy individual, but I have no experience with Android. My root process is not going very well, even though I've done everything the tutorials out there tell me to do, and I just don't know enough about this platform to be able to troubleshoot the problems myself. PLEASE HELP!
Here's what I did:
1: Loaded Auto-Nooter 3.0 onto my SD card (my nook is running 1.1)
2: Rooted the nook - everything seemed fine, Android Market worked, etc. (although it still essentially just looked like a nook with the Android Market installed - is this normal? It appeared to be the same OS! Didn't even realize the root had "taken" at first...)
3: Downloaded ClockworkMod Recovery, installed it.
4: Loaded Cyanogen onto my SD card (still zipped up as my tutorials instructed)
5: Rebooted the nook
The only change is that the word "Android" appears along the upper left side of the screen before the Android boot screen shows up. Then, it gets stuck on the boot screen indefinitely.
Tutorials etc. say that the first boot after installing Cyanogen takes a long time, but I've left it booting for intervals of up to 20 minutes, with no luck at all. It just stays on the boot screen.
Can somebody help me? Preferably by breaking it down into simple language? I'm new to rooting and to Android, and a lot of the tutorials include language I don't necessarily understand...
Or if you have no idea what I'm talking about re: ClockworkMod Recovery and Cyanogen, but know how to get my nook running full Android some other way, please feel free to help me start the process over again, doing it your way this time. I'm not picky about how I get there as long as I DO eventually get there!
Thanks in advance everybody!
