Just a wild guess, but does your Google account have two-step authentication? Seems unlikely if it's your work account and you don't know about it, but I'll throw it out there as a possibility.

Personally though, I like using separate apps for work and personal email. That way I know which it is from the notification of a new email. That's mainly beneficial when it's difficult to actually check/read the email.

As far as I know you must use the GMail app to access Gmail on the S4. I've tried to use the "Others" & "Corporate" set ups in the stock email program and I can never get it to connect GMail.

Thx that would make sense would prefer to have e erything on same email app havi g just moved from iohone, both softwate have pros and cons I wish yhere was a happy medium somewhere.

You may be able to set up non-Gmail accounts with the Gmail app. I don't think that I've ever tried that, but if so, that would allow you to have everything in one app.
