Just purchased Samsung Skyrocket, 1st Android device and still trying to figure out OS and device.
Last night the battery indicator showed full until the phone shut down because in fact the battery was exhausted. Thought I had bricked it until it came to life after a short (5 min) charge.
Is this typical for the indicators on screen top (not accurate state indicators)?

Firstly, warm welcome to Android Forums!

Secondly, your situation seems a bit strange... try holding out for a battery cycle or two. If it still happens you need a replacement battery.
