Help Total Silent Mode?

Hi all,

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S2 a couple of weeks ago and had a question in terms of the sound aspect. Is there any way to get a total silent mode? What i mean by this is that when you load any application it will be in silent and if you double click on the home button to get to voice control this will not ask 'what would you like to do' but rather stay silent?

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know (as I'm still an Android n00b) but I don't think it is possible. I think it only silences the stock apps and the phone itself. I have had to go into games like Angry Birds and Shaky Tower and mute the sound in them so they don't alert the whole office to the fact I'm skiving at work!

There is no one click method on the phone but im sure there will be an app somewhere. You can do it manually by going into sound settings and turning the volume down on everything.

if u turn on silent mode and THEN access games etc, the games (angry birds etc) sound will be turned off. from wat ive tried, at least.. but if u turn on silent mode while these apps are running, sound will remain on. im not sure about the voice commands thing as i only use google voice actions but i think the 'what would u like to do' will still play

Silent mode does not effect media volume, you still have to turn this down manually. Not sure if the voice commands sound is classed as media or system, but if you turn both down it should be silent.

Yeah, you'd have thought that turning on 'silent' the camera shutter sound would also be silent, but alas not. One of the 'un-ironed out' aspects of coming from iOS having to go into a menue to alter several volume levels :(

You'll probably have to check any alarms too as they ring even in silent mode. In my view, this is useful but if you really want to make sure you are totally silent no matter what (eg at a funeral, in church, classical concert etc) it does not appear to be that easy.
