Help Totally annoyed with GMAIL? is a solution possible?

So i know this is all over the google searches, and this form as well, but i am so annoyed the the gmail app doesnt allow you to delete emails from trash or spam! this is my main email and somedays i go through 30+ emails a day that are junk, and i dont have a computer. I know that if i use the mail app (not gmail specific), it appears i have much more controll over my mail, and thus far, am able to do what i need... My question is this... is it possible to not have an email linked to the gmail app? It will not allow my to delete my email from the app as it is linked to my app store and whatever else the phone needs an email for. I know if i reset the phone i can put a new email in, but is there no way to omit the useless app from my linked accounts? this is wrong in so many ways. I reduntant files and locations sooo much.

don't use the Gmail app then. I delete mine through the phone's email app. I just added my Gmail accounts to it, and I get full access and control. I have yet to us the Gmail app.

this is the solution I was looking for. How is it that you were able to delete the email app? Do i need to have root accesses? Or just use the mail application after a hand reset instead of signing into the gmail app?

I removed the Gmail app, but cannot remember if it required root access. I say try it and see...
